Limited expanded two CD edition features a bonus CD that contains 10 tracks originally recorded during the Exile era including 'Plundered My Soul', 'Dancing in the Light', 'Following the River' and 'Pass The Wine' plus alternate versions of 'Soul Survivor' and 'Loving Cup'. 2010 reissue of the classic Stones album housed in a super-jewel case (to complete 'remasters' box set). Regarded as one of the greatest albums in Rock 'n' Roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones' catalogue. Upon it's release more than three decades ago, Exile On Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard's mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal Main Street influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late '60s and early '70s.

    Album Worth Having...

    If you're a Rolling Stones fan, then this is the album to get... This is not a "Greatest Hits" album... This is a off the beaten path album.... Two albums showing off the talents of the Stones.. The music is clean and clear. I didn't find any songs that weren't worth listening to... Very Enjoyable..

    EXILE ON MAIN STREET should be dropped off on Z Street.

    VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE MUSIC. This is supposed to be the "best" Stones album. But in my opinion it is one of the worst. There is hardly one good tune on this very long and spacious album. Maybe I'll change my mind after repeated hearings. But I recommend you don't buy it.

    where have you been all my life

    Keith said any music you listen to becomes part of you and comes out in your own music. Such is the case as 8 gifted musicians migrate to the basement of Nellcote villa in the south of France. While all the psuedo psycodelic music goes on outside, the Stone continue to ignore the norm and stick to their roots. The discovery of the unrelease cuts is as good as any stones album to date. The basement feel opening guitar intro to Pass the Wine can almost transport you to the hot musty atmosphere of chambered basement where the band jammed. Plundered my Soul is the single and obviously has been redubbed to carry the original feel while still making it current. The real gem here is the Nicky Hopkins piano work carring the beautiful Following the River. The alternate versions are worth the listen ...
