Mafia takes place in the fictional 1930s city of Lost Heaven. The player takes the role of a relatively innocent cabdriver who becomes involved in the underworld of organized crime through a random accident. While between fares one night, the hero is suddenly approached by two shady characters in urgent need of a ride. Fearing a quick shot to the head if he refuses, he accepts the passengers and, thanks to his excellent driving abilities, is able to help them escape the rival gang members that had been chasing them. Quick thinking and good driving skills save the day for the thankful mobsters, who make it a point to remember the main character. When he finds himself out of work a short while later, the hero is graciously welcomed to "the Family."<br><br>The third-person adventure in Mafia has the player moving about a 12-square-mile city, designed from authentic photographs and architectural plans from the 1930s. The player will have almost complete freedom to move about the city, exploring and interacting as he sees fit. Each building is unique, providing a sense of location and allowing the players to learn landmarks as they travel through Lost Heaven. A wide variety of missions will have the protagonist racing cars, investigating seedy hangouts, and even executing hits (if his conscience will allow it). Mafia is designed to envelop players in the look and feel of the classic gangster movies that were its inspiration.

    Xbox

    some xbox games can be played on xbox 360. however this one cannot be played on xbox 360. before you get an xbox game check the list on the xbox websites make sure you game is on it. if not you would need to use and old xbox

    Long Overdue

    Yeah, Yeah I know this games old but I never had an XBOX when Mafia came out. Anyway's this game was awesome! I loved playing every minute of it from start to finish. As Tommy Angelo you tell your past history of the Salieri Family to Detective Norman for protection. The graphics, game play and audio are all high quality considering it's over three years old and with over twenty missions, free roam and race mode this game gives you plenty to do. The bottom line: A fan of gangster games? Not a fan of gangster games? It doesn't matter, everyone should have this one. You can snatch a new copy for $10 or get a high quality used one for less, got mine for $7.77 S+H included. I can't wait for the Godfather to come out, I just hope Electronic Arts doesn't screw it up!

    MAFIA XBOX

    Great 3d action GTA-like game. The grafics are great, a little dark on night drive parts, but, great anyway. The 30´s are perfect, the music, cars, people, city, you submerge back on these years. The controls are ok, very similar to another 3d Action games. This is a great game if you search a game to substitute your GTASA XD .
