First appearing in the arcades in 1996, Capcom's Super Puzzle Fighter II has since endured excursions on the PC, PlayStation, Saturn, and Dreamcast. The core game mechanic has changed little since the series' inception, and tasks players with matching pairs of like-colored gems. Over time, Crash Gems also fall into the field of play, and when they come into contact with gems of the corresponding color, will remove all connected gems of that color. In turn, those gems that fall into the vacant space below can set off other reactions to create chain combos. By doing so, players send "Counter Gems" to their opponent. The ordinal number on these gems is reduced by one with every subsequent pair of gems dropped into play. When it reaches zero, they turn into normal gems.<br><br>Skilled players attempt to join an even number of gems either horizontally or vertically; causing them to bond and creating even larger "Power Gems" that, when used in a combo, will increase the number of Counter Gems sent to the opposing player. During play, the chosen Street Fighter or Darkstalkers avatars will execute their trademark attacks based upon the combinations you create. Character selection also dictates which pattern of Counter Gems is sent to your opponent. <br><br>Eight characters are initially available for selection -- including Ken, Ryu, Chun Li, Morrigan, Sakura, and Felicia -- but others (along with costumes and alternate modes) can be unlocked by playing through the Street Puzzle mode. The game offers competitive play for two players using a single system or via the Link Cable. The latter option requires each player to own a copy of the game, while the former allows both players to "share" the system: one player uses the D-Pad and L button, while the other plays with the A, B and R buttons.

i love this game, i have played it for many years -since the arcade version- and bought every release for every console. me and my friends have spent months playing only this game. GBA version is one of the best, fist you can play with your friends with only one cartridge, and second, you have many puzzles to complete and unlock new characters, skins and music thermos., this is the first version i see with those! you'll love the game if you have played previos releases.i love this game, i have played it for many years -since the arcade version- and bought every release for every console. me and my friends have spent months playing only this game. Super Puzzle Fighter II (Game Boy Advance or DS)
This is a fairly good game with some challenge to it. The minor downside is if you are playing this game during the day time while you are taking a ride in an automobile and then trying to also read the screen action while doing a good job of playing this pretty fast paced game then the whole effort can get to be almost way too intense for the majority of the rest of us average video gaming mortals out there. The more you win at the game the more features and treats you can get unlocked. The graphics are okay. They work and are somewhat charming but the DS screen and processor have their limitations. I remember that I had a better time playing it on a Playstation even though I don't really want to personally own a Playstation these days. Super Puzzle Fighter II for the Game Boy ... This is a fairly good game with some challenge to it. Great game. GBA version colors hard to distinguish
I've loved this game since it's US release in the late 90s. I have been waiting to get this on GBA for quite some time. It's almost a direct copy of the PSX version, loaded with all the extras. The biggest problem, however, is that some colored blocks/gems are hard to distinguish. Mostly yellow and green. Pretty annoying when you play hardcore and rely on knowing which colors are which. The best suggestion I have is to play in a well lit room with the GBA backlighting on. Best game ever, of course because I've always liked it
I don't really like Tetris too much so when I played this game when I was younger at the arcade, I got hooked. It's just so much funner than any other puzzle game I played before. It gets intense when you're playing someone else because the game could last for ever. Great graphics and gameplay is the same as if you were in an arcade on the Game Boy. Pick it up for sure.
