Reviews
"Helpful, deceptively simple, straight-shooting, celebratory" MARGARET ATWOOD "With a poet's grace and a craftsman's precision, Kent Nerburn has written a powerful and deeply moving meditation on what it means to live the life of an artist--and, ultimately, what it means to be human. On Making Art & Being an Artist might be the most inspiring book you'll read all year" DANIEL PINK "Kent Nerburn's understanding of the transcendent nature of the creative process is vividly on display in his uplifting new book. His enthusiasm is contagious. Tune into his wise words and make something beautiful" RICK RUBIN "A master teacher with the most generous heart, filled with lifetimes of wisdom" DARREN ARONOFSKY, "A book of revelation . . . a true-life fable and a provocative call" ROBERT PLANT on Neither Wolf Nor Dog "Kent Nerburn reveals to us that which lies beyond the surface appearance of reality. His writings are permeated by stillness. In a world gone astray, they are of inestimable value" ECKHART TOLLE, author of The Power of Now , on Neither Wolf Nor Dog

Synopsis
The creative life is not easy. From the outside it can seem romantic and exciting, but in fact it is a unique journey filled with doubts and dreams and complex challenges that most people never imagine. From the obvious, issues of making a living and dealing with rejection, to more rarified questions like how to know when a work is finished and the delicate balance between inspiration and craft, the creative artist - whether writer, painter, actor or dancer - lives in a world of profound questions and subtle choices. The Artist's Journey takes you into this world with an emotional honesty that few books offer. At once practical and spiritual, it is a rare exploration of the inner landscape of the artistic experience and an essential guidebook to the artist's journey, for creative artists in all fields, whether young or old accomplished or just beginning. Book jacket., A rallying cry for artists. When Kent Nerburn received a letter from a young woman questioning a life in the arts, the writer and artist was struck by how closely her questions mirrored the doubts and yearnings of his own youth. So Nerburn resolved that he would write his own letter: one of welcome and encouragement to all young artists setting out on the same strange and magical journey, sharing the wisdom of a life spent working in the arts. From struggles with money and the bitterness of rejection, to spiritual questions of inspiration and authenticity, On Making Art & Being an Artist offers insight, solace, and courage to help young artists on the winding road to creative fulfilment. Tender and joyous, it is a celebration of art's power to transform the human experience., The creative life is not easy. Package was delayed ( by bad weather) and then misplaced at PO( placed in wrong box #) but I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and I got my item today. This seller went the extra mile and I would highly recommend them and will shop here again. I also want to say the price for this complete hard to find item was way below most of the other listings. - 6***t (481)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchasePurchasing form this company can at times be frustrating due to items never arriving, very low shipping time and the inability to track the items. But I gave them another chance and purchased many maps and books over the past few months and have received all of them. Last year, it was hit and miss. All items were in the condition as described. Packaging is minimal. The only downside is extremely slow shipping. I rate them a C+. Nothing to gloat about but eventually you will get what you wanted.
