Because Panasonic's system is optical, there is no image quality degradation. When you're shooting a still picture, the MEGA O.I.S. system automatically activates, doubling the corrective power. With O.I.S. and MEGA O.I.S., the e.cam is equipped for clear, beautiful shooting of both motion and still pictures.This 32x zoom can fill the screen with even a distant subject. Not only is this lens the powerful zoom offered in a home-use digital video camera, but it also features low distortion. And because it's optical, there is no quality loss - you get the images in all their natural beauty.The Pure Color Engine converts the CCD output signal from a complementary color signal into an RGB signal at an early stage and extracts the low-frequency luminance component from the RGB signal. This innovative engine also achieves truly superb color reproduction for high-zoomed pictures.Panasonic's MPEG2 engine is a wide-range, high-precision search engine that produces smooth, beautiful motion pictures. Because it precisely records the differences in each frame, it can render fast, complex motions - like those of athletes in the thick of the action - with exceptional precision. The MPEG2 engine also uses Variable Bit Rate technology that Panasonic developed for the high-end DIGA DVD recorder. Giving LP recordings nearly twice the resolution captured with previous Panasonic video cameras, this lets the e.cam record clear, smoothly flowing pictures.This model offers the High-Picture-Quality Wide Mode, which produces images that make for beautiful, dramatic viewing on a wide-screen TV. The image is processed on 16:9 area of the CCD. Because the image decoded has the same proportions as your wide-screen TV, there is virtually no picture quality degradation.     Good camera

    This is a basic camera with smaller DVD record. It does not have SD capability or USB connection. It is possible to use DVDR-W but they can be used only twice. The camera does take good pictures and video,has about 4 hrs. run time and is small,light weight,with enough features. Recommend miniDV or better hard drive.

    Fine product!

    This camcorder is neatly compact, and very easy to use. It records very well, but the battery life is below average. Still, I love this camcorder.

    great!

    Easy to use. 32x opt zoom and up to 1000x dig. Wright onto a small dvd. When your finish just pop it into dvd player and that's it. No copying to dvd or vhs. Small compact. Light. Can take pic not that good at that. It you are looking for easy to use NOT a techy and good camcorder this is for you if you are looking for high tech lots of option complex ect look somewere else.

    Not the latest technology but a very good camera with great sound and zoom.

    This is great little recorder. The sound is excellent and the zoom works really well. I bought a second one as a back-up for the one I bought new several years ago (has not given me any problems over the years)just in case it plays out. Down loading is simple and the RW disk can be used over and over.
