Die Planung und Durchfuhrung der Krankenmorde zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus ist ein seit Jahrzehnten intensiv erforschtes Thema. Weniger dezidiert hat sich die historische Forschung bisher jedoch mit den Tatern beschaftigt. Verena Christ stellt vier Arzte in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Untersuchung, die sich 1949 in Tubingen im sogenannten "Grafeneck-Prozess" - benannt nach der gleichnamigen Vernichtungsanstalt in Wurttemberg - fur den Mord an uber 10.000 "Gemeinschaftsfremden" verantworten mussten. Christ untersucht, ob sich anhand der verfugbaren Prozessunterlagen ein bestimmter Typus von "Euthanasie"-Arzt identifizieren lasst. Welche Gemeinsamkeiten gibt es zwischen den vier Arzten, die den tausendfachen Mord an ihren Patienten aktiv unterstutzten? In welchen Situationen zweifelten sie an ihren Handlungen? Wann retteten sie Patienten oder zeigten sich mitverantwortlich am Krankenmord? Die Autorin legt dar, mit welchen apologetischen Strategien die vier Angeklagten ihr Handeln spater zu rechtfertigen versuchten und ordnet dies in den zeitgeschichtlichen Kontext ein. Zudem zeigt sie, welchen Einfluss das milde Urteil auf die Spruchkammerverfahren (Entnazifizierungen) der vier Arzte hatte und gibt Einblicke in das Leben der Mediziner nach dem Prozess.
