I have been using a rivet punch to set my rivets and snaps this several years and never have been able to find a pair of setting pliers that could actually punch the stud to set a snap without bending the pliers enough to put the Hulk to shame! I have bent and twisted the handles on many pair. But these, yeah, that's the way to go! No more having to be sure everyone in the house is awake so I can smack a punch as hard as possible and hope I don't hit my hands instead (after all the punch is only about 3/16" in diameter and my hand is the bigger target)! And I like to work at night. So my snaps had to wait till everyone was up and by then I'm asleep and my snap is off set and I'm having to cut it off and set a new one. Cutting off a snap cost money every time. And hand punching them ... Not to mention that it's a great value to begin with. Take a look at the rest offered and see. This is a must have it you are setting these large snaps on anything. I have used the same snaps that this tool does to repair a pair of jeans for my daughter more than one, just with a punch instead. So just because your not working on leather like I do, or making a canvas tent doesn't mean you don't need use this. If you have a tool box or a sewing chest then it's not complete until you add this tool. You would be amazed at all the things you couple have added a snap to and didn't because you either didn't know how it thought it was too much trouble. Trouble no longer!!! It's so simple!!!!!!

This is a good tool,but it will not under any circumstances do stainless steel snaps,if the stem on your snaps is brass you can do them,I ended up buying a much more expensive tool to do mine,stainless is hard to compress,I even tried clampint the handles and it wouldnt compress them.

Good product but not for all snaps
These pliers WOULD NOT WORK ON FULLY STAINLESS STEEL SNAPS. It just does not have enough leverage to push all the way on stainless steel snaps. It might work good on Nickel plated brass.
