About this product

Product Information

Director Mary Lambert's (THE IN CROWD) second film is a very underrated rendering of a Stephen King bestseller. In it a young family, the Creeds have recently moved to a new neighborhood where they very quickly lose their cat, which is run over by a speeding truck. The Creed's neighbor, Jud (Fred Gwynne), feeling bad for the family, tells Mr. Creed (Dale Midkiff) about the secret Indian burial ground in the neighborhood, which has mysterious rejuvenating powers. However, when the Creed's infant son meets a fate similar to the family pet, Mr. Creed can't resist temptation and he brings an unspeakable evil back from the grave.

  • Sometimes The Book Is Better

"Pet Sematary" is a mediocre horror movie based on an excellent novel by Stephen King. Compared to the book, it is less than mediocre, but cinema is an art form in its own right and ought to be considered that way. When I first experienced this movie many years ago, I thought that it was very scary and I am sure it might still have that appeal to a very young person without much experience with horror cinema. I had a sense that the film was technically well made, but not inspired. The many themes and characters were extremely under-developed and all you are left with is shocking moments and a sense of unrealized potential. It seems that the best format to present King's works as movies is the television mini-series which allows for the time necessary to do them justice. The central theme ...

  • Some scary stuff!

I've loved this film ever since I first saw it when I was about 14. One of Stephen King's best! It's an extremely eerie movie about a pet cemetary where people (mainly children) would bury their dead pets (hence why they spelled it Sematary). However, there is another secret burial plot discovered where pets and people can come back to life. When the Creed family's cat dies, the father buries him there to please his young daughter which brings him back to life as a totally different and vicious cat. Soon, their youngest son gets hit by a truck. The distressed father buries his son in hopes that he will return to life. He does come back, however, as a demon child. I find it interesting and very scary, the entire atmosphere of the film will make you shiver and creep you out. I advise you ...

  • I Admit When I Read The Book

I had to wait until someone else in the house was up and moving around before I even thought about going to sleep..the book scared the hell out of me..the film does too..a young Couple along with the little Boy and Daughter move into a house set on a hill by a dangerous road they later learn a pet Sematary close by was set up because of the pets killed on the dangerous road...not heeding their new neighbors (played by Fred Gwynn Herman Muenster fame) warning about the road they go about their lives only to have their hearts broken when their pet Cat Winston Churchill nicknamed Church dies..Later as he attempts to play God he ressurrects the dead cat only to find out sometimes the dead is better left dead..he does not learn his lesson..when their youngest is killed in an accident on the ...
