About this product

Product Information

In a post-apocalyptic world where magic has returned and society is controlled by massive corporations, you are a Shadowrunner. "Shadowrun" for the Super Nintendo was the first video game based on the Shadowrun tabletop role-playing game. At the start of the game, the player wakes up in a morgue with no recollection of his life. He only knows his name: Jake Armitage. This game from Beam Software tasks you with uncovering the rest of your identity and why you were killed. "Shadowrun" also has the distinctive honor of being one of the first film noir-style games on a console. The story is a loose adaption of the first Shadowrun novel, "Never Deal with a Dragon." For gamers who want to see everything this version has to offer, there are approximately 25 hours of gameplay.Track down your apartment and your identity in the early rounds of this SNES game. From there, you'll eventually uncover a plot that could change the world as you know it. "Shadowrun" features point-and-click gameplay that is unique for a platform system. You can examine everything in your environment, which often leads to new clues. When you talk to NPCs, you ask them questions from a list. Only knowing the right questions to ask will provide you with the necessary answers for your adventure. "Shadowrun" is not just a film noir game; it is also a cyberpunk one. As a result, this SNES title has a slightly futuristic look and feel. Characters can insert themselves directly into the internet, and it's common to see gene-spliced humans walking around. Like any good film noir story, your investigation will eventually lead to combat. Fight scenes take place in real time. The environment is displayed from an isometric perspective that gives you a broad view of the action at all times. Your character remains stationary while you aim a reticule. You'll need to pick off your enemies before they can shoot you. Often, your enemies are hiding in every nook and cranny. You'll fight not only other humans but also vampires, dragons, and reanimated skeletons. In addition to an array of weapons like pistols and assault rifles, you can also wield magic. After every kill, Jake earns karma, which he can use to increase his skills and health. He'll also earn Nuyen, the currency used to buy new weapons and armor. At certain points in this SNES title, you can directly enter the internet. Here, this SNES title becomes more like an RPG, or role-playing game, as you destroy nodes and collect data in turn-based combat. Publisher Data East captured the feel of the "Shadowrun" universe in this SNES version. The world is presented in grays and blacks, giving a sinister feel to the gaming environment. The music features a heavy dose of techno and bass. The character portraits are extremely detailed, replicating those found in the pen-and-paper game perfectly. This Nintendo title deals with mature themes, and it combines a dark story with fantastic gameplay to create an RPG experience that stands out during play.

Well packed, amazing condition, even better than described. My DSiXL is too heavy for my hands nowadays and this system is perfect, I've been playing it constantly since it arrived! The seller accepted an offer and was cheerful in messages back and forth. I would be happy to buy from them again!

    An Underrated Classic

This game doesn’t offer that much in the graphics department. And the controls are kinda wonky... BUT! The story is one of the most compelling among many RPGs I’ve played and with a memorable soundtrack to boot! I know there are modern Shadowrun games on Steam, but I would love to see a remake of this specific storyline made available on Nintendo Switch. But doubting that will ever happen, I will enjoy reliving this 16-Buy classic.

  • Shadowrun: Precursor to the future

I saw the new one come out for the 360 and remembered how much I loved this game as a kid (teens). If you liked the movies "The Matrix" or "Johnny Mneumonic" you will love this game. The latter was completely based off the video game and the former used some of the ideas (8 years before the Matrix was made). Gameplay is admittedly lacking and is the biggest drawback of the game, sound is sub-par by todays standards and it can be irritatingly confusing since it really is non-linear. Bottom line is that most of the problems with this game come from reverting back to a 16-bit console but the up-side to this game is evident when you realize that this spawned some of the best futuristic philosophy/action films of the time. As I said before, the movie "Johnny Mneumonic" is virtually scene ...

  • A unique snes cyberpunk rpg

Before cyberpunk 2077 there was Shadowrun. While the graphics are not the best on the system, the levels ooze with charm and character. The world is full of memorable locations, characters, and things to discover. This game is well worth the time to track down and play. I can’t think of anything else like it on the snes. A must buy in my opinion!

  • The best Adventure Comic SR game you will ever play

This game pulls you into the Shadowrun atmosphere with it's wonderfull settings, senary, and belovable characters. This series is part Coperate Dragon era and does not becomes too DAD unlike the Genesis version. You play Jake a Shadowrunner who lost his memory original mission was to deliver a package that would hurt Drake-E Jake's former employer who told him to cancel the run but since Jake is the number one man he did it post haste and Drakee had him killed. Jake then is reserected by Kitsune who for some reason tags along with him later in the game. You constantly struggle to regain your memories and objective. Along the way you help the people in Jakes world almost like in Diablo and thus gives you access to many other options in the game. However you are number one in the ...

  • Shadowrun, the game hidden by shadows...

Shadowrun is a game I have loved ever since I first played it in the mid '90's. It has a great storyline and it has lots of freeform adventuring. It is at times fustrating because often advancement in the game relies on talking to the right person about the right thing. I found that as a challenge and played harder asking everyone everything. Another thing I really liked about it is the continual upgrading of the main charater through out the game. It was good to see some accomplishment for my hard work. I recommend this game to anyone that wants a good RPG. It takes patience but most RPG players know all about that. The game will provide many hours of gameplay.
