Needs a 24 power supply on DC analog setup.
My first Loco with sound. Though I am using analog DC. The sound works good. The Bell rings for a few seconds when starting, the choo-choo sound effect seems pretty well synced to the wheels, and you get a braking squeal sound when slowing down. the first 12 volt power pack ran the loco at a about a 3 mile per hour crawl, so I switched to a 16 volt HO power pack, at full throttle the train was running at maybe 25 miles a hour at scale. The manual said the Loco could take up to 27 volts, though limiting to 21 volts was recommended. I then got a 24 volt power supply from my audio amp for my video projector. The Train now had full throttle. On the Kato controller the eighth speed notch the Loco was running at a respectable 100 miles per hour and Drawing 21 volts. So I put a little red ... So I put a little red sticker on that spot on the controller to remind me. Though that speed is normally faster than I would run a Train at unless I was behind schedule. I put my 15 volt power supply to my audio Amp for the time being. But I will buy a dedicated 24 volt PS for the Train. The Manual says a PS should have filters or something like that to smooth out the power, so I will have to research that. My Audio Amps PS probably has that since audio equipment likes clean power also.
