    Hyperbolic horror

    Great fun reading early 20th century horror stories. The language is purposely florid and evocative of an earlier, more naive time. That’s not to be dismissive, but respectful of stories not dependent upon profanity or sex, conveying mood and tension. It’s all wonderful.

    A Great Collection

    This is a nice collection of some of Lovecraft's best stories: "The Thing on the Doorstep", "The Shunned House", "The Dunwich Horror", and many more I'd never read before. The only minus is that the binding, while prettily decorated with gold--looks a bit cheap and might not last. But I expected as much at such an economical price. All in all I am very satisfied. I wanted a lot of H.P. Lovecraft stories to inspire my own horror fiction, and that's just what I got. This book has a place of honor in my library!
