About this product

Product Information

The sequel to Maximo: From Ghosts to Glory, which was loosely based on the classic Ghosts 'n Goblins series, Maximo vs Army of Zin puts players in the role of Maximo, a master swordsman with a penchant for battling undead creatures. The action picks up where Ghosts to Glory left off, as the title hero must abandon his kingdom in order to search for his missing girlfriend. The developers at Capcom promise a more engrossing story this time around and have removed the hub screen, meaning each level flows into the next. There are 26 levels in all spread across six different environments.

As in earlier games in the series, Maximo wears boxer shorts beneath his armor. However, the underwear in this game actually serves a functional purpose beyond comic relief. Depending on the situation, players will be able to swap out different pairs of shorts for strategic purposes. Many of the staples of Ghosts to Glory have returned (such as hidden treasure chests), but there will be less platform jumping, more attack moves (over 30 in all), and a combat system that rewards players for dispatching enemies quickly and efficiently. Also, to make Maximo temporarily invulnerable, he will occasionally be able to transform into his buddy, the Grim Reaper.

Those who found the original Ghosts to Glory to be prohibitively difficult will notice a few changes designed to make the game less frustrating. The biggest concession is that players are now allowed to keep all the weapons they have obtained. No longer will players build up their inventory, only to watch most of their items disappear after they die. Ironically, though there are still elements of humor, Army of Zin is darker and less cartoon-like than Ghosts to Glory.

Beautiful Sailor Jupiter, the box and the figure arrived in perfect condition and very well protected, 100% original. The only recommendation I would make is to specify in the product title whether it is "Version A" or "Version B" of the figure. Given this doubt, I contacted the seller to ask what version it was and they confirmed that it was "Version A". I received a very quick and friendly response, so I was able to proceed with my purchase without hesitation. Totally recommended.

Great game like the other Maximo game but...

Some assh*le stole my game from my mailbox, I’m sure it was in good condition and shape, shame I can’t get the chance to play it

  • Another good game from Capcom

Story: Maximo is on his way to find his true love, Sophia; then suddenly he’s attacked by a bunch of robots powered by ‘trapped’ souls. These robots were supposed to be locked and sealed in a Great Vault of Hawkmoor. They are attacking the villagers nearby, so it’s up to Maximo to protect the people and investigate where these robots are coming from. Graphics: The graphics is good, certainly not the best ever seen on PS2. The FMV is very good actually, but the cut scenes are just okay (average). All enemies are drawn quite nicely. My personal favorite is the scarecrow with pumpkin head that can be found in a haunted forest. The final Boss fight is very good, you are surrounded by hundreds of enemies. It’s just a great atmosphere there, fighting the ‘last’ Boss in front of his army. ...

  • Skip Army of Zin - Stick with Ghosts to Glory!

Although its not a HORRIBLE game, "Maximo: Army of Zin" definetly lacks the charm and fun factor that I found in the first title from this franchise, "Maximo: Ghosts to Glory". The levels are bland and repetitive. The enemies are wave after wave of the same exact stupid robot. The plot is beyond a joke - "Stop the robots!!" The control scheme consists of mindless button mashing to achieve combos which make no sense. Basically the only thing this game has going for it are it's mediocre graphics, which isnt much. Just skip this game altogether and check out the first one, its ten times more enjoyable.

  • Fair, Excellent game

I liked this game a lot more than the predecessor or the series that was its prequel, Ghouls 'n Ghosts or Ghosts 'n Goblins. Those games had a lot of cheap deaths. Anyway, in Maximo vs Army of Zin, you got a nice array of moves, and the difficulty is very fair. I had a lot more fun than the first one because of this. You also keep the skills you have after you die and it doesn't cost you coins to save unlike the 1st Maximo. You also have a couple of new weapons in this sequel too. It's very inexpensive so it's worth a shot; I got mine for 8 bucks at a store, than missed it after I sold it and bought it on ebay for 2 bucks. I enjoyed it during my replay.

  • Fun gameplay so far!

A pretty fun game and solid sequel to the first. From what I have played so far it is really awesome
