About this product

Product Information

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is a fast-paced zombie hack-and-slash game, rebuilt for Nintendo Wii on the Resident Evil 4 game engine, in the campy-yet-creepy style of Capcom's Xbox 360 original. In the role of a regular guy named Frank West, players find themselves in a suburban shopping mall, hopelessly outnumbered by a growing throng of lurching zombies, but with the very best that American retail merchandising has to offer at their disposal for use in beating a bloody, rotting path through the thickening undead menace. A big, powerful shotgun is an awfully nice thing to have when facing an unending deluge of hungry ghouls, but in some situations, players will need to think creatively, and make use of whatever items they can find nearby in their defense. Baseball bats, golf clubs, umbrellas, shopping carts, even a park bench or a store manikin can serve as decent zombie-bashing weapon in a time of need (if not just for the sport of it). As in the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4, the game's controls are tailored to the Wii Remote, with the pointer serving as a light gun and motion-based controls activating the swing of a club or blade.

    And weirdly enjoyable experience.

So this is essentially a Wii demake of the first Dead Rising for Xbox 360. The story is the exact same but it uses the same engine Capcom used for Resident Evil 4 so the gameplay ends up feeling like a combination of DR1 and RE4. It is a combination that I didn't expect to be anywhere near as compelling as it is. I love both DR1 and RE4. They are two of my all time favorites so Chop Till You Drop scratches an itch I didn't even realize was there. Keep in mind, there are drastic changes to the way the game plays on Wii. There are far fewer interactable objects/weapons and there is much more emphasis on guns as opposed to melee weapons. The time limit is gone and saving survivors is done through a mission menu where you are ranked on your preformance each time. It is different and weird ...

    Pass On This Title

The Wii has some great games and hidden gems. This one not so much. The graphics aren’t good at all my wii has an hdmi converter so everything looks even worse. Mainly because all the bad textures are more visible. But the gameplay is repetitive, the cutscenes terrible, the game looks like its from 2001 ps2 era. Get the xbox version if you want the better experience. Its not a bad game, just on the wii.

  • Fun time killer on the Wii

After playing Resident Evil 4 into the ground I was looking for something with a similar game play and feel. I find it incredibly hard to believe that a game like RE4 came out in 2006 and there has not been a game that even comes close in comparison yet. So I picked up Dead Rising. It is a fun game, though no where near as expansive and creative as RE4. The shopping mall setting is fun, but there are a lot of repetitive tasks or areas that you could do without. The ability to pick up objects around the mall is great, but I wish it was a little more random. I am still looking for a game that allows more than one player to play the game at the same time in this style shooter for the Wii. I mean, 007 came out for the Nintendo 64 and I bought the system just for that game. You cannot tell me ...

  • Dead Rising Comes to the Wii.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is like a film adaptation of a classic book. It resembles the original in the most important ways, but a few drastic changes have made it something of its own. Fans of the Xbox 360 original may balk at the changes and downgraded visuals, but those unfamiliar with Dead Rising will find a pleasingly action-packed game here. The free-roaming zombie-slaying of Dead Rising is unique on the Wii, and even though Chop Till You Drop has its fare shair of flaws, it's a welcome addition to the console's increasingly mature library. In addition to multiple save slots, the Wii version of Dead Rising comes packed with new zombie enemies that are slowly introduced throughout your time in the mall. New foes, including giant stun-gun wielding zombies and deadly accurate ...

  • Deadly fun :)

This game is a lot of fun for what it is. I have played the 360 version and found it quite frustrating. A lot of the issues have been corrected with the Wii version. The save system has been revamped and is there when you need it. Because this game uses the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, players of that game will find themselves at home with the aiming and shooting mechanic. Forget dual analog sticks...Wii remote control of shooting is unparalleled. The gameplay is a blast, the tone of the game is perfectly campy, mixing brutal violence with humorous absurdity. For a bargain price, totally worth it.
