A benefic carburetor!
31 May 2021 As I have 2 bikes, a 2000 FLSTC, and a 2000 FXSTS, I ordered a second Mikuni HSR-42 carburetor and received it today. The FLSTC's carburetor, after 80k miles, was idling poorly, stalling the engine. Tristly, the carb. did not include an instruction pamphlet! Fortunately, I still had the one that was included with the initial Mikuni carb that I purchased 3 annums ago. Also, to my surprise and disgust, I found that an adapter is required to mount the stock, H-D air filter assembly. Wondering how I installed the air filter assy. to my bike with the initially-purchased Mikuni, I examined the bike and saw that it had an adapter between the air filter backing plate and the carburetor. I then found one on the Internet and ordered it. Now my bike runs well!
