Dies illustrieren nam versmiedenen Seiten hin biographisdte Essays iiber drei groBe Physiker, weldte kiirzere oder langere Zeit an der Kieler Universitat tatig waren: Max Planck, Heinrich Hertz und Walther Kossel. Es folgen einige Erinnerungen an drei Astrophysiker: P. ten Bruggencate, o. Struve und M. G. J. Minnaert, denen im mim bis zu ihrem Lebensende in wissensmaftlimen und menschlimen Dingen besonders verbunden fiihlte. In astrophysikalismer Hin simt handelte es sim seit den spateren zwanziger Jahren um die Entwicklung der Astrophysik und insbesondere der Spektro skopie der Sonne und der Sterne zu einer quantitativen Wissen smaft, in der - wie in der Physik selbst - neben der Beobam tung die Theorie eine gleim wimtige Rolle spielte. Die damit angesdtnittenen Probleme: Die chemische Zusammensetzung der Sterne, die Evolution kosmischer Materie und die Einheit des Universums behandeln (nam einem historisdt-didaktismen In termezzo: Ptolemaus - Kopernikus - Einstein) drei weitere Vortrage."
