About this product

Product Information

Treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) embarks on a new adventure in director Jon Turtletaub's sequel to NATIONAL TREASURE. Ben and his father, Patrick (Jon Voight), take great pride in their ancestors and their family's devotion to the United States. When Mitch Wilkinson (Ed Harris) produces a page from the diary of Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth allegedly linking Ben's great-great grandfather to the plot, Ben and Patrick set out on a path to clear their family's name. Ben also believes that the diary page contains hints to the whereabouts of a treasure map leading to an ancient city made of gold, and soon the hunt is on. Tech expert Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and Ben's now ex-girlfriend Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) join the Gates in their quest, which takes them from Washington, DC, to Paris, London and the Black Hills of South Dakota. It's true that the storyline and the actions of Gates and his team--which include breaking into the Queen's study at Buckingham Palace, sneaking into the Oval Office, and kidnapping the President of the United States--are completely unbelievable. But with a storyline built on true, interesting trivia and great locations, this film is an amusing, family-friendly romp. Cage has some great moments as Gates-- loyal, patriotic, fair to a fault, and very funny as he goads on Buckingham Palace security. Harris plays Wilkinson with just the right air of mystery and menace: is he after fortune, or does he just want to leave his own mark in history? Helen Mirren fits the bill as Ben's mother and Patrick's estranged ex-wife, Emily, a scholar and historian in her own right.

    Not too shabby

Nicholas Cage should be on the Sacajawea dollar. He made this film into a masterpiece. Seriously the best movie of the century. His acting is incredible, though the president looked nothing like the president of the time. Nicholas Cage made up for it. I will be watching this movie every night until the disk burns out. It is perfect to fall asleep to, and Daddy Nic's voice just soothes my soul. If you're looking to be relaxed. This is the movie for you. Someone ought to make a petition to get him on the Sacajawea dollar for his performance in this movie. He did much better than she ever could. 11/10 would recommend.

  • Action Packed! Fun for everyone But Slow Ending.

The Book of Secrets was a good follow-up movie to the first movie, but left me a little disappointed in places. Actually, for the theatrical release, the film was called "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," but for the DVD release, the title was changed to "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets." With a film this big, you first have to be able to sell the audience on the idea and then work to make it believable. This just did not happen for me. Nicholas Cage is always perfect for this role and he always seems to fit the part, but the others in this movie were very outside of the movie. There was a bit problems early on when the Director of photography Amir M. Mokri was replaced by John Schwartzman several months into shooting. This was reportedly due to "creative differences" between ...

  • Great picture quality, good movie!

I really enjoyed this movie, I thought the picture quality and the story was good and entertaining. I love Jerry Bruckheimer, so I always watch films by him. I think I actually prefer this one to the first, but it has been awhile since I have seen the first. It is a great movie to own on Blu Ray also, the picture is phenomenal! Enjoy!!!

  • When Disney Still Had Moxie

This is a great, action, adventure movie. It has all the good stuff in it. It was made back when Disney still knew how to make profitable movies. The Disney magic has left the building.

  • Excellent Movie - Nick Cage/Diane Kruger do it again!

I love the action/adventure in the film, it ties into history with ease, it makes you wonder about things that happened, things that might have happened, and things that might happen in the future. The biggest thing for a film to do is to stir your imagination. This film stirs your imagination and sends it for uncharted wonderment. How do you really know the things you read in history books are fact, were you there? Do you think there is more to story than the government wants you to believe. Maybe they make you see a certain side of things, and that is what this story/movie makes you question. A+ for the writing, storyline, and action! If you think this movie is "far-fetched" or can't happen answer me one question, Where does ALL your tax money go?, if you cannot answer that question than ...
