    Witty 1960 British Comedy

    School for Scoundrels is a witty 1960 British comedy starring Alastair Sim, Ian Carmichael, and Terry-Thomas, as well as Janette Scott. Ian Carmichael, beaten in life and love by Terry-Thomas because Terry-Thomas is a ruthless rotter, decides to go to a school run by Alastair Sim to become an even bigger rotter, so that he can humiliate Terry-Thomas and win back Janette Scott, whom he thinks he has lost to the slick Terry-Thoms. Sim is good in his role as the schoolmaster, which he plays in an understated (perhaps too understated) a manner; Carmichael and Terry-Thomas are superb in their roles as rivals. Janette Scott is good, too, though her role doesn't give much room for character development. I just bought it recently; I had never seen or even heard of it before. I looked for a ...
