As stated they are cut to just below the bottom of the band so they will work in all situations, If you wanted to install as an inverted V, it would be too short. That is why instructions on installation and TUNING are included.

Meets my needs for GMRS base station. I mounted using 3/4" PVC piping, and securing the antenna to one end of the pipe with a coax jumper cable extending out the bottom end. Hose clamps secure the PVC pipe to a telescoping flagpole on my porch roof. LMR400 is the feed line for 36 feet. The top of the antenna is about 30 ft AGL.
