A speech pathologist can help determine issues with swallowing using a test called a barium swallow, and can tell you if thickened liquids is necessary as well as what level of consistency is needed. Your doctor can help you find a speech pathologist or speech therapist in your area if there are concerns with aspiration pneumonia or other swallowing concerns.This is one of the main products used for people with swallowing problems.
