I have no been a fan of all of Manson’s music for years. A song here and there. But the Twins of Evil tour with Rob Zombie changed that.

Too short for a MM Best Of...
This CD has some of the best songs of Marilyn Manson - but not all of them. To be a true "Best Of" for the entire catalog of Manson's work, you'd probably need a second disk. This one does a fine job of cherry-picking and throwing in a few non-album songs that are damn good additions. I really liked their take on "Personal Jesus" and "Tainted Love" - I'm not the type to begrudge a good cover song, especially if the band performing it puts such a decidedly personal spin on it and makes it their own. I was also very glad to get MM's "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" - a song I previously only had on a music video tape of their music. Great song I'd sought out from time to time... without much success. Other personal faves include: "Lunchbox" (which is the first song of theirs that truly hooked ... This CD has some of the best songs of Marilyn Manson - but not all of them. For the few people not familiar with Marilyn Manson, but curious - this is probably a good way to get a taste of their sound from their first album up through "Holywood". As always, they blur the lines between Rock, Metal, Industrial, and pure shock showmanship. And do it better than anybody else. Check out the multi-panel album insert for some of the many looks of Marilyn Manson - each step along the way a minor tweak to convey a feel for each individual album, or period, in the band's evolution. As far as a comparison to Manson's other albums - well, it largely IS Manson's other albums in one place - and stands up to that scrutiny well. As far as comparing other Best Of albums - It's a damn good thing this one covers so much territory! Too many times I've seen "Best Of" albums that only cover two releases from a given band, and I really think that waters down the importance of a "Best Of". So this one keeps it honest there, too. The only thing that I believe could have made this (perhaps vastly) better would have been to have a second disk DVD with maybe a half dozen of their videos on it. Or at least a version of it packaged as such - making for a true multi-media "Best Of".

Lest We Forget: Best of Marilyn Manson
To me any new Marilyn Manson album is a good one. This album is no exception. It embodies all the works of the band over the past years with songs from Lunch Box to Dope Show. My only reason for giving the album a GOOD rating is because alot of the songs are remixed somewhat. I myself prefer the originals over remixes. For the money you can't go wrong with this album.

The album covers a great deal of meaningful songs form "Personal Jessus" to "The Nobodies". Singer Marilyn Manson has overall done a great job over the years and should not be put down in the media just for the way he portrays himself. Rather cheered on as he finds ways to connect these meaningful songs to a new age of people.

Best of the best
Just what is expected from Marilyn Manson! Excellent collection of his best! Keeps you moving from start to finish! Some language issues for anyone worried about that but that is Marilyn anyway and is expected. Excellent sound, good cruising music, play it loud, good party music. And this mid age person loves it!
