About this product

Product Information

Jan Karon's millions of fans can't wait to sit down with her heartwarming and hilarious characters, who have a way of becoming family. In fact, readers and booksellers across the country kept Out to Canaan and At Home in Mitford on The New York Times bestseller list for months. In A New Song , Mitford's longtime Episcopal priest, Father Tim, retires. However, new challenges and adventures await when he agrees to serve as interim minister of a small church on Whitecap Island. He and his wife, Cynthia, soon find that Whitecap has its own unforgettable characters: a church organist with a mysterious past, a lovelorn bachelor placing personal ads, a mother battling paralyzing depression. They also find that Mitford is never far away when circumstances "back home" keep their phone ringing off the hook. In this fifth novel of the beloved series, fans old and new will discover that a trip to Mitford and Whitecap is twice as good for the soul. "Everything that, in the wee hours of the night, you like a book to be, warm-hearted and funny, with a hero marked by...profound inner strength" -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

When you visit Mitford, you won't want to leave

Like Jan Karon's other books in the Mitford series, A New Song is like a visit to a simpler, friendlier place such as Andy Griffith's Mayberry, where the conflicts are engaging, but not terrifying, and the characters are well-developed, yet somewhat predictable. It is also like a Thomas Kincaid painting, a little brighter and flowery than reality, but what we would like reality to be.

  • A series of volumes that is my all-time favorite!

I cannot praise this author enough! She speaks to my heart with her wonderful characters in the "Mitford Series" books. I've been an Episcopalian my entire life, so these books really speak to me and enchant me. I'm ready to move to Mitford! I'm now finishing this volume, which is Number 5, and have already received #6.

  • Great book!

Anything written by Jan Karon is excellent! She writes very clean, informative, interesting, down to earth. Her stories could happen anywhere, at anytime, and the places are so laid back and relaxing-I think my blood pressure is probably much healthier when I'm reading one of her books-I have the whole collection, except the Bedside Companion, which I can't find(I will have it too as soon as I do).

  • The Mitford Series

I had heard about the Mitford series of books and wanted to read them. I wasn't disappointed. They were wonderful...couldn't stop until I had read all five.
