About this product

Product Information

In this big screen spin-off of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, two small-town cable TV hosts and lifetime best friends (Mike Myers and Dana Carvey) spend their days and nights chasing babes (schwing!) and refusing to budge from their long-haired, head-banging style. Ably capturing the goofiness and exuberance of youth and love of music, director Penelope Spheeris (THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PARTS 1 and 2) brings a natural sense of fun and abandon to the film. Features appearances by Rob Lowe, Chris Farley and rockers Meat Loaf and Alice Cooper.

  • Best SNL Movie Since The Blues Brothers

This film has been considered the best movie based on an SNL skit in 12 years. And who can blame the considerers? The acting, especially between the two leads, is phenomenal. The gags aren't fart-based and are unpredictable. All points the characters make are taken seriously (i.e. the corporate sponsorship scene which makes Wayne and Garth reluctantly do what Benjamin insists on doing.) The take-down scene, which starts when Wayne gets fired from his show (He doesn't quit it, TV Tropes. Do get your facts straight.) and Wayne and Garth have their obligatory Plot Mandated Friendship Fixer-Upper, that makes up the climax is both funny and climatic. The writing is pretty good (you might not take kindly to the way Wayne's ex is treated and take kindly to how treating women bad is wrong gets ...
