I came to adore Lisey Landon and her sisters, I ached for Scott and all he'd been through, and when I finally reached the bittersweet and heartfelt conclusion, my first thought was that I wanted to start over again from the beginning, for it felt as if I were saying good-bye to old friends. This is Stephen King at his finest and most generous, a dazzling novel that you'll thank yourself for reading long after the final page is turned." -- Nicholas Sparks, author of At First Sight and The Notebook, "In Lisey's Story , Stephen King makes bold, brilliant use of his satanic storytelling gift, his angelic ear for language, and above all his incomparable ability to find the epic in the ordinary. . . ."-- Michael Chabon, "In Lisey's Story , Stephen King makes bold, brilliant use of his satanic storytelling gift, his angelic ear for language, and, above all, his incomparable ability to find the epic in the ordinary, to present us with the bloody and fabulous tale of an ordinary marriage. In his hands, the long, passionate union of Scott and Lisey Landon -- of any long-lived marriage, by implication -- becomes a fantastic kingdom, with its own geography and language, its dark and stirring chronicle of heroes and monsters, its tragedies, griefs, and glories. King has been getting me to look at the world with terror and wonder since I was fifteen years old, and I have never been more persuaded than by this book of his greatness." -- Michael Chabon, author of The Final Solution: A Story of Detection and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

Fast shipping. Item did arrive with a little damage on the spine (I included pictures). However, it was in a very thick cardboard mailer. I'm assuming that it was damaged during shipping. Not upset about it, especially considering that it cost at least half of what others are selling it for. I wasn't looking at this as a collectors item anyway. Just wanted it for myself. Would purchase from them again.

A great paperback copy of a book I needed for my classics collection! There is a minor bend in the back of the book, but it was most likely the shipping process and I don't tend to mind minor bends that don't effect reading. The cover will also look different than the picture the seller posted, but is still a very nice copy. This book came to me very fast (within 2 days), so I am very satisfied with the time it took to receive my order.

  • Lisey's Story by Stephen King (2006)

As everyone before me has said, this is not your normal Stephen King novel but I still found it recognizable as his in several ways. It's not his best (nothing will ever trump the unabridged "The Stand") but it's a good read, or in my case, a good listen as I bought the unabridged audio book. Mare Winningham was an excellant narrator and very believeable as Lisey. The title of this book should have been "Scott's Story" as it was really not Lisey's Story but her story about her deceased husband, Scott Landon, famous writer of horror novels no less. Nearly everything was about Scott and in fact, Lisey didn't have much of an identity without Scott though she couldof, wouldof, shouldof and I'm sure does when she lives on after the book ends. People who normally stay away from King's work ...

  • Stephen Kings Lisey's Story

I prefer audio tapes but only buy them when I can get a deal because, in general, I think they are over priced. I bought this one because I was having trouble getting through the book. 100 pages in to the book and I still wasnt sure what the King was driving to or if I even wanted to finish it which is unusual for me because I love everything else he has done. The basic premise is Lisey is still trying to cope with her famous author-husbands (Scott) death 2 yrs ago when a nut starts threatening her with bodily harm if she doesnt donate Scotts unpublished manuscripts. The narrative walks the reader through 'the now' and through flashbacks to give us a picture of what their marriage was like and a glimpse into a special ability that Scott had. I felt that the book had major conceptual ...

  • Lisey's Story by Stephen King CD AudioBook Unabridged

Excellent. At first, it is a bit slow and sometimes confusing. But after the whole story, it was almost like an enlightening. Lisey's Story is Scott's Story because her life was Scott. But I gained a whole different meaning from the story. It brought me into the mind of a Horror Story Novelist. Sometimes you wonder where a novelist (like King) can get ideas, plots and an imagination to bring stories to life. Maybe they do go outside their own being to escape reality. We've all found ourselves daydreaming to another place and time just to escape from our own realities. Scott Landon's escape was Boo'ya Moon. By the end, I was believing in this mystical place and could visualize the pool. I found myself laughing at Amanda (Lisey's sister). What a sense of humor, especially when ...

  • BOOL! it is awesome

Bool? A new word introduced by Stephen King into my vocabulary. Read this story and you will learn it about it and eventually understand it. It is the thread that binds everything together. What I can tell you after finishing this is that it's a wonderful story. The first third is a drag. Introductions and definitions really of all the words and ideas you will follow for the rest of this book. The story flashbacks a lot but it is essential to the story as every reveal from the past is relevant for the present. It is done well and draws you into the bizarre world of Scott and Lisey. The villain is a real terror and the reader presented the character is a way I could only imagine Matthew McConaughey playing the character in my mind. Mare Winningham read this book so well. It was a pleasure ...

  • Lisey's Story

I bought it because I read the book & thought it was great. I wanted my wife to read it also, but she doesn't like to read. She thought the same thing that I thought about the book. At first, it didn't seem like anything special. And about a week later, she said "you know, that was a really great story!" It is complicated and needs full attention to understand it. But, if you give it full attention, it almost seems to take you into the complex lives of Lisey, her husband & her family, and the other world that they sometimes visit. That is what I liked the most about it. We listened to one disc each night by the fireplace. It was something we both looked forward to.......... It is s story that is told from a womans viewpoint, so many women consider this to be one of King's finest ...
