Great Part of D&D/AD&D History
Although it has a second generation cover, this is part of the original Advanced Dungeons & Dragons core rule books. As such it is a great look at the history of the game. There have been a lot of changes between the original rules and the 5e rules of today. A lot of people still play the original rules, and if that is you, this is a must have book.

Try some nice fifth edition or fourth . Just keep away from the advanced rules they are too simple and where only used for thirty years before third edition so play with d ten damage cantrips and conficting rules

This takes me back to my youth. It reminds me of better days with no responsibilities, except for having the right equipment needed for the next dungeon encounter. If you play RPGs (role playing games) then you must try first edition Advanced Dungeon and Dragons. It is the game that started it all, and launched RPGs into the stratosphere. The "Players Handbook" is absolutely required to play as a well informed character. This book will easily get you up to speed and ready to hack-and-slash your way through the dungeon, and pillage your way through the city. The manual will show you how to create classic player characters such as the fighter, magic-user, cleric, and thief. Not only does the "Players Handbook" give you full descriptions of the abilities, races, classes, ... This takes me back to my youth.
