A Little, Dazzling, Butterfly Pop Up Book
I've collected 12 Robert Sabuda/Matthew Reinhart pop up books and wondered about purchasing this small expensive 2001 used copy. I made the right choice in acquiring this book. It is the smallest book at about 5" by 7 1/2" by 3/4" and most expensive at $24.00 in total cost, but it is a stunning pop up book. The book has very sturdy, stiff pages and the butterflies and moths are magnificent. There are 12 pages filled with butterflies with about one butterfly per page made of colorful iridescent foil with maybe touches of black velvet. The iridescence is spectacular like the Emerald City in the Sabuda Wonderful Wizard of Oz book. Besides being an amazing, absolutely beautiful artistic creation, the book is very informative and concise about the life of butterflies and moths. The book is ... This used copy did not come with the framed butterfly "specimen," but I'm sure I'm only missing a little bit. This book is educational like the dinosaur, mega beasts, and sharks pop up books, but it is much more colorful with the foil effect. The book is small in size, but high in quality. Be prepared to be dazzled even if these are only paper butterflies.
