    Super-Versatile, Great Design, Quality Build

Above all, the Godin XTSA is versatile. With both magnetic pickups and piezo saddle pickups you can get lots of tones just within the guitar. The mag pickups aren't as sparkly as a strat, but I can blend in the top end from the piezos and get some sparkle, (not quite the same, but nice). It is a very well-designed and well-made instrument- especially for this price range. With the "Synth Access" (a 13-pin interface) you can connect to a Boss or Roland product that lets you access many other sonic options. (I found a used Boss GP-10 and will be enjoying adding other sounds to this guitar's already wide tonal range. I find the guitar does feel a little heavier than my strat, but not too bad. The switches and pots are in good positions. It comes with those locking strap pins, but the part ...

  • WORKHORSE VS. SHOWGIRL

I have the LGX-SA, I have an Artisan w/GK3 pickup, and now this guitar. The Koa top grade quality varies tremendously on these, look before you buy! My XTSA tracks quite well, doesn't seem to have the problems described on some reviews, no ghost notes that couldn't be fixed with a little patience. This doesn't have my favorite pups, but the Duncans chosen for this model do give you a wide variety of palettes if you're playing a lot of different styles. Acoustic side is excellent, every bit as good as my LGX; my LGX is set up with a standard strat 5-way, with the push-pull tone pot, which is nice, and not an option on the XTSA. The LGX is sexier, with the carved body and all, but the XTSA still feels great strapped on, is NOT as heavy as some of the wimps who posted reviews are ...

  • Amazing Guitar

This guitar is great right out of the box. The HSH pickups do everything a guitarist needs them to do. The acoustic pickup is terrific. With a bit of adjustment, it sounds amazingly close to a real acoustic guitar. For those using a 13-pin device (GR-55, etc.), there will be a bit of a learning curve. To get the best out of the guitar, the guitar needs to be set up to communicate with the 13-pin device. This takes some time. Be patient. There are a lot of good videos out there made by guitarists who have shared their experiences on setting the guitar (and similar guitars) up for 13-pin devices. Watch all of them. Experiment. When you finally get it right, the musical possibilities this guitar provides are endless.

  • Sounds great plays nice after pro set-up

Purchased new, pick-ups needed adjustment and set-up. Plays and sounds great. Translucent Finish looks nice. A great addition to any guitar collection.

  • Very Versatile Guitar

I bought a Godin xtSA locally as part of a package deal with a Roland guitar synth. It is the most technologically advanced guitar I have played. The regular "magnetic" pickups sound good, particularly when mixing with the single coil via the Strat style selector switch. The body is super resonant for a solid body electric, probably the loudest unamplified solid electric I have played. The piezo pickups are built into the bridge, and provide the acoustic simulator sound, and the synth triggering signal via a 13 pin Roland type jack. The synth tracking is the best I have ever played, with no weird squawks like sometimes happen with gk type pups. The different sounds can be mixed together or sent to individual amps/channels through the 3 different output jacks. The body is deeply sculpted on ...
