Poorly designed lenses at a Ray-Ban price
The problem is entirely with the lenses. The frames seem to be of good quality, and the sunglasses are comfortable and look great on one's face. But Ray-Ban, at some point, was acquired by the Italian consumer group Luxotica, and Ray-Ban's historic emphasis on visual acuity through the lenses seems to have been sacrificed. Even when completely clean, it's hard to see through the lenses with certain angles between your face and the sun, as there appears to be no anti-reflective coating on the back of the lenses. You wind up with a large area that's just a tinted blur in your field of vision, which is the reflection from your cheeks onto the back of the lenses. They also don't cut glare well, and the transition from the darker tinted top of the lens to the lighter tinted bottom is ... The problem is entirely with the lenses. The frames seem to be of good quality, and the sunglasses are comfortable and look great on one's face. But Ray-Ban, at some point, was acquired by the Italian consumer group Luxotica, and Ray-Ban's historic emphasis on visual acuity through the lenses seems to have been sacrificed. Bought as a surprise for the wife. Figured due to the size, if she didn’t like them, would use them myself. These fit her perfectly, and as one who does a lot of driving, she REALLY likes the gradient fade on the bottom of the lens. Guess I’ll have to find a pair for myself now....
