Eidos and Crystal Dynamics' reunite both sagas in the Legacy of Kain series with the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Played from the same third-person perspective as Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, Defiance stars Kain, now a demigod, as well as Raziel, an angel of death. Both characters come equipped with swords as they take charge to stop a new power from destroying their world. The game emphasizes more action and combat over puzzle solving, so players will be able to cut a swath through multiple foes using an assortment of new combo moves. Players can also use each vampire's power of telekinesis to manipulate objects in the environment as well as to fight enemies. Only by defeating the hordes of enemies will both vampires satisfy their eternal bloodlust.

It's fun, and that's the point.
The game, while not the best in the series, is far from bad. It certainly changes quite a bit from the previous entries in the series. While i can understand why that would turn some fans away, at the end of the day, i play games to have fun, this game is fun, so it's good to me.

My personal favorite series of all time.
Personally , the "Legacy of Kain" series of games are my favorite of all time. And, to this day, the original "Soul Reaver" for Playstation 1 is probably still my favorite game ever. I have owned a PS2 since they were first released and I still come back to that game, time and time again. But this review is about "LOK: Defiance", so onward... "Defiance" picks up where "Soul Reaver 2" left off (also a great game in itself), in a manner of speaking. By this I mean that there is the element of time travel during the storyline, meaning that all of the games throughout the series are played in various times, spanning hundreds of years. In these different time-lines, enemies evolve, and locations are altered by age making each "chapter" in the game very unique. An area that you might have been ... In these different time-lines, enemies evolve, and locations are altered by age making each "chapter" in the game very unique. An area that you might have been familiar with previously may change in the "future" (or past!). Also, your terrain will change dramatically when "shifting" from the "material realm" (physical world) to the "spectral realm" (spirit world), and vice-versa. The transition between the two different "worlds" is crucial in your progress throughout the game and after playing for a while you will figure out why...some areas and objects are only attainable in a particular realm. The story behind this game, and the others in the series, are impeccable. Truly worthy of movie script material. The dialogue and voice-acting are top-notch and very engaging, making for a very enjoyable game experience. The graphics are well done although you may experience a slight glitch on occasion, but nothing to be really concerned about. The glitches are minor at worst. In ending, if you have even the slightest interest in a good vampire story (or even if you don't) this game and the others in the series are well worth the money. With the awesome storyline, good puzzle action, music and dialogue combined with enthralling fighting action, this game makes for a very satisfying experience overall. I only wish they would make another one!!!!!!!!!!!
