About this product

Product Information

Consisting of little more than an octagonal tunnel, Frequency challenges the player to complete various songs by "playing" the correct instrument at the correct time. Each of the tunnel's surfaces represents a particular aspect of the song, such as vocals or drums. As you move through the tunnel, musical notes (represented by small indicators) appear on the left, middle, and right side of each surface. Pressing the corresponding button on the controller will activate these notes. Once you complete an entire section without making a mistake, it begins to play automatically, allowing you to move onto the next surface. The objective of course, is to complete the entire song.

However, one caveat is that the songs are broken up into sections, and if you do not complete the song before the end of a particular section, everything you've completed will revert back to its original state, forcing you to start all over again. A Remix mode allows players more creative freedom, granting the ability to mix and assemble the songs as desired -- the final mix can even be saved for future use. Both of the game modes support up to four players at once.

The lineup of over 25 tracks comes from well-known artists, such as BT, Powerman 5000, Orbital, and Crystal Method, some of which can only be unlocked by completing the harder difficulty sections.

    Great Nostalgia and Great Game

Frequency was a game a lot of people got on demo disks for network setup (myself included). I loved the demo and played it for hours - now that I have the full game many years later, I have had a ton of fun with it. Compared to the modern version of this game Amplitude on the PS4, this seems a little bit rough around the edges. Track transitions are very difficult and the timing is a lot less forgiving in this game. Although it has some difficulty, it becomes a great game when you get into the groove with it. For it's time this game was amazing, and the type of gameplay is very unique to this franchise. Frequency, Amplitude Ps2 and Amplitude Ps4 are three of my favourite games.

    Heartbroken

I was so excited to get this game for my husband, who has been looking everywhere for it. He had it, and loved playing, years ago. I finally got him the ps2, just so he could play this game. Ordered it, and received it today, packaging is great, he put it in to play, and noticed their is a huge gash in the disk. Ps2 works great, but will not read this disk. Such a disappointment!!!

  • Frequency=Awesomeness

Frequency is quite simply one of the simplest, but most addictive games of all time. Anyone who enjoys playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band should know that this is the game that started it all. To be fair, it does contain a high percentage of house/techno music compared to the more rock heavy fare of the most recent interpretations of the music-game genre. When I say it is a simple game, do NOT confuse that and take it to mean easy. Frequency is most certainly NOT an easy game. In fact, I would wager that it is quite a bit more difficult than any guitar-based rhythm game to date. It requires almost perfect timing and rhythm to accomplish even the moderate difficulty levels and will most likely take you quite a months if not a year or more to complete all the difficulty levels and songs. If ...

  • Love this game!
