Originally published in Russian in 1910, this volume is made up of 382 letters of spiritual counsel by the late nineteenth century Optina Elder Hieroschemamonk Anatoly (Zertsalov) to nuns. All who seek the knowledge and love of God can benefit from reading these letters. Written in a tone that is both firm and tender, they are the words of a caring father for his spiritual children. The book also includes a short life of St. Anatoly, a glossary, an index of topics, and a table of letters. AUTHOR: Fr. Anatoly was one of the most revered monks and spiritual advisers at the great monastery of Optina in Kaluga Province, south of Moscow, during its heyday in the late ninenteenth century.
