Sith apprentice Starkiller is very much alive -- as a clone -- in this follow-up to the best-selling Force Unleashed. Continuing the events chronicled in 2008's game, Force Unleashed II has the embittered antihero on a quest to reunite with Juno Eclipse, who is now a key asset to the Rebel Alliance in its quest to dismantle the Galactic Empire. Yet Starkiller's former master, Darth Vader, has other designs, seeking the powerful protagonist to further his plans for overthrowing the Emperor.<br><br>Gameplay once again takes place from a third-person perspective, with Starkiller using a combination of Force powers and lightsaber techniques to defeat foes across multiple environments. Starkiller's improved skills allow him to wield two lightsabers simultaneously and perform new Force techniques, such as the "mind trick," which turns enemies into allies. A revamped control scheme has you tapping a button on the Wii Remote to perform lightsaber attacks, while the Nunchuk is used to block or initiate Force powers. An enhanced targeting system allows for more precise control, and a new fury state has Starkiller temporarily increasing his ability to cause destruction and mayhem.<br><br>Players can collect lightsaber crystals as in the first game, adding new powers, combos, and techniques to their character as they progress. The Wii version also adds a Super Smash Bros.-inspired multiplayer mode supporting up to four combatants. Travel to familiar and new worlds as you attempt to elude Darth Vader's pursuit and connect with individuals from Starkiller's past.

Initial Star Wars fun, but very limited, drab, and gets redundant.
Never played the Force Unleashed I, but considering I am a Star Wars fan, I decided to purchase this one for the Wii. It seems to follow a previous storyline, but even if you haven't played TFU One, don't be discouraged, it's pretty easy to pick up the plot. Gotta say, at first, it was pretty awesome, all the stuff that can be done with the "force" moves. However, after a while the environment and enemies get a bit stale. There seems to be only a handful of different enemies to attack - which I found very limited. Also, there are only about four or five scenes/areas throughout the game, most of which are dull, grey/brown ship hallways, with not much to explore or find. Although your character is afforded the ability to bash and break stuff with the force moves - there seems to be no point, ... As far as modifiying your character, not much is available, other than force move and light-saber colors/upgrades. Again, extras/power ups can be found - but they are few and far between. I looked everywhere for them, throughout the game, and I only found about half of them by the time the game was over. Regarding gameplay, I was a little dissapointed that the classic controller option was not afforded, but the nunchuck and other controller were pretty intuitive and easily manipulated. The gameplay in itself was fairly easy, with a few challenging areas where specific jumps had to be made - other than that, the game was not difficult. I completed it in about six or seven hours - a few days (other reviews complain about this). Also, although combo moves were afforded, it seemed that really, no specific control was required to unleashed the combo moves, other than just clicking the button and shaking the controller continuously - even an unskilled player could do that... While the force moves could be utilized, again, I was unsure what the point of using one over the other was, as just about any move could kill an enemy. It probably would have been more dynamic if the game would have required certain moves for certain enemies, and more control over the combo moves. I found myself using the the "force rage" move frequently toward the end of the game, just to get rid of the onslaught of foes - which btw, requires the player to sit through lame, slow motion battle scenes, and watch the character slice off enemies' arms or cut enemies in half - which again, gets redundant. Ultimately I would have liked more enemies to fight, more areas to explore, a longer game overall, more colors (other than drab grey or brown hallways), more options to change my character, more down time for freeplay, more power ups, and a better gameplay challenge... Another thing that was annoying was that you cannot go back in the game, as it is constantly auto-saving and pushing you forward, not to mention that the music sounds as if it is all under a timer, and even the gameplay has an overwelming sense of urgency - constantly your character will be encouraged to "hurry, hurry, hurry!" via radio. Regarding the dual 2-player mode, it was pretty pathetic/underwelming - all done in sidescrolling 2-D as if I was playing the original 1980's Nintendo. Plus, it only allows a limited amount of moves - not really adding anything to the game dynamic, IMO. All-in-all, this one's a cool game initially, not bad for a few hours of gameplay, but probably only if you happen to find it at a discounted price.

Slightly lacking
This is the first game that I ever had to buy new. I couldn't wait for it. The first version of the game was awesome. Since I got version 2 new, there wasn't much guidance out there for the Wii version. Xbox's version was all I could find. I had trouble finding a few holocrons but later realized I only needed to use the force sight see them through walls. My shock came when I saw the difference in Xbox vs Wii. Xbox looked like a completely different game. The set up was all different. It looked so much better with the HD too. It's a fun game though. There are some differences in the controls from the first one that I didn't like. . but I got used to the new controls pretty quickly in this version.This is the first game that I ever had to buy new. Buy it now before it's to late, buy it after the first game got it.
Don't buy this game if you haven't gotten the first one it is about well.. star wars but Darth Vader follows you just to mess up your mind along the path of the game you fight a giant beast named the Gorgon awesome graphics and Yoda and his swamp is there too! I love this game and the emperor is still alive like you would suspect and you have more power such as the force dash, the force rage, force see, The force mind trick. Considering how fun SW:FU1 was on the Wii, this was a HUGE let down.
I'm glad I did not buy this new or near release because it definitely would not be worth the 30-50 dollars that it would have probably cost. In my opinion, Force Unleashed 2 is far inferior on the Wii to the first title. The storyline is less interesting. There are very few bosses, and the few ones that there are, are less interesting than the bosses from the first game. The ability to customize your force powers has been greatly nerfed. Many of the abilities from the first game are either no longer available or have become difficult to use, useless, or just not fun anymore. Let me explain this point a bit because it is the main weakness of the game. - Lightning has annoying and difficult controls now, and is also just simply not effective at all anymore. - double handed lightning ... Let me explain this point a bit because it is the main weakness of the game. - Lightning has annoying and difficult controls now, and is also just simply not effective at all anymore. - double handed lightning has been removed - Lightsaber throw has been turned into more of a platforming gimmick than an actual fighting tool, and you can no longer throw it at a force gripped enemy to impale him - Force grip has stripped most of the control that it had before, and now can only really throw enemies left, right, or forward, as opposed to the full 360 degrees and the additional option of slamming them straight down. - Force Choke has been removed - Force Maelstrom has been removed - all saber/force combos have been removed, as have the force push/lightning combos been removed. To make up for these losses, a few new abilities have been added. Only a couple of them are useful or interesting. Most of them are gimmicky or useless. Another negative is that the physics engine in general seems of lower quality in this game. The environment cannot be manipulated to make weapons as much as in the first game. And speaking of the environment, it is much flatter and less interesting in this game. The first game had many extremely varied environments, which would change in elevation and appearance. Additionally, it's not just the environments but the enemies in this game were also mostly generic and had vary little variation. One of the main draws for me to the first game was the amazing controls. This included the force powers, and also the lightsaber combat, which took advantage of the wii's motion controls. As far as controls go, the first game did one of the best jobs of ANY nintendo wii game to date for effectively utilizing the unique control scheme. This game does not. In fact, Force Unleashed 2 is largely just a button masher, where you will just be repeatedly pressing the "A" button (attack with lightsabers) over and over and over again to win battles. So when you're basically doing the same lightsaber combo over and over against the same enemies in the same environments, you can see how it becomes uninteresting and tedious. Additionally, while not in all aspects of the game, the graphics in this game are actually of a lower quality in many parts of the game than the first. Although I will admit, the fully rendered 3D cutscenes in this game were a nice addition. All that being said however, as an avid star wars fan who was able to get the game for exactly 8 dollars, it was worth it. And after all, it is pretty cool to play and experience the journey of the man who is quite possibly the most powerful entity to have ever existed in the Star Wars universe. Just don't come into buying the game for a high price or with great expectations because you will most likely be let down hard.
