After being sibjected to me going to Green Lantern Movie and the TV shows going out, My wife started to get interested in them. She bought the MARVEL Encyclopedia. I felt she needed the DC Encyclopedia. Especially with the different shows & Movie coming out and in some sort combining characters. She really enjoys having them, both. This book came quickly and in great shape. The will be sitting together for quick referrence. AWESOME TITLE! It says exactly what you want & get!
I thought I knew a thing or two about the iconic superheroes that I grew up with.Boy, was I wrong! This book is like an "Instruction Manual" on the why or the how did he or she do that. The where did they come from? Why would they endlessly fight to there dying breathe and sacrifice their mental,physical, and personal life? We all may do that for our children or a family member, but for a stranger,friend,or someone who doesn't even like you.The villain on the other hand is mean,bad,and evil and must be stopped. No,they were not born villains they will also do what it takes to do their part as they choose to be the villains. They could have been a hero couldn't they? All villains like heroes were not born with super speed or strength.All couldn't fly or shoot something lethal from a body ... The DC Comics what now?
Before I even begin writing this review, I want everyone reading it to know that I am evaluating this item based on the way one normally would use it...not as a fanboy. As a fanboy, this thing is awesome, no question about it, but as a reference...well, it has its pros and cons. ... So I decided to re-read "the best selling graphic novel of all time," The Death of Superman, and a character by the name of Bloodwynd caught my eye, so I looked him up in the DC Comics encyclopedia the very next day...or rather, I tried to. He wasn't in it. Strange, considering that he was involved in one of the most popular story arcs in DC history, right? So I began looking up other characters, just to see who was in it and who wasn't. You know who else is missing? The Spectre. Seriously. Another ... Before I even begin writing this review, I want everyone reading it to know that I am evaluating this item based on the way one normally would use it...not as a fanboy. As a fanboy, this thing is awesome, no question about it, but as a reference...well, it has its pros and cons. ... This book is a must for comic collectors and fans. It is full of DC superheroes as well as villians. It has them listed A-Z so it is easy to look up someone and a blast to go through the pages of comic characters. We look through it all the time and always find someone new to learn about. It is a huge hardback book and would make a special gift.
