Great animation, but too much gore
I love great animation and Superjail certainly is that. It's refreshing from the static and awful animation that plagues most adult cartoons. The characters are interesting and the humor, though often distasteful, is good. However, I found the gratuitous amount of gore difficult to stomach. Any joy I got from the animation, humor, or characters was often overshadowed by the frequent and unnecessarily grotesque violence. One episode even had babies slaughtering each other in horrific ways, and made fun of a little girl coughing up blood from cancer. I want to be clear that I believe cartoons are just that: cartoons. And they should rarely be taken seriously enough to be offensive. I even enjoy the Ren and Stimpy Adult Cartoons. But Superjail has changed my mind. There are things that simply ... Superjail is, in my opinion, a wonderful show. The animation style is really something, there's constant movement and its always visually surprising. This show is not for everyone, though. Some will find it unsettling. It's that sort of cartoon that barely makes sense; think Flapjack, Chowder, or Adventure Time sort of nonsense, but then add a ridiculous amount of violence, and you'll have an idea of whether or not you'd be iterested in superjail. The dvd itself is a bit minimal. There were only ten episodes in the first season,and the dvd also includes the pilot, so you can watch it in less time than you'd expect to get through a season of a tv show. There's not much in the way of special features, just animatics if i remember correctly. However, this is the ... Superjail is, in my opinion, a wonderful show. Anyone who enjoys oddly incredible cartoons will love Superjail! This first season introduces the viewer into the extraordinary world that is a futuristic dreamlike prison. It is a sensory journey that takes you from serious to hilarous throughout every episode.. Thereis so much detail and so much to focus on that it will send ur imagination on a rollercoaster ride like none other. A trippy cartoon to the fullest extent and if you like random, gutbusting, brainsctraching, craziness in ur shows the Superjail! Is the perfect match! A Great animation show, funny yet gory
This show is one unimaginable show. At first it doest even make sense but once you get used to the animation schemes it does have interesting plots. Very funny show and "trippy" animations. I recommend to anyone who watches adult swim or are into funny gory animation. But its never too much gore even though it happens so much you just get used to it after an episode or two.
