Nice Ken Doll But Beware of Fragile Faux Leather Clothing
A really nice Ken doll. Clothing overall is well made; however, the faux leather used to make the vest and chaps is EXTREMELY FRAGILE and has a tendency to flake or break down if handled. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PLAY!. Even removing the clothes from the doll can damage the faux leather. When removing Ken's vest the surface came off in one area, The same is true for the Barbie version. In fact, Barbie's chaps and leather coat disintegrated when I "gently" removed them. Pictures provided. So be aware. Otherwise, if you are just going to display this Harley Davidson guy you will be more than pleased with him.A really nice Ken doll. 20 year old “leather type” outfit falling apart
I believe that the seller could have been completely unaware of the problem I had with this doll. The doll itself was fine but the “leather” motorcycle outfit is falling apart. I guess that is to be expected since the doll is 20 years old. The years have not been kind to the clothes. The jean shirt is fine but the leather vest and pants are not. If you touch them the material falls off. I want to just take them off and get it over with but it was gift for my granddaughter and I have not had the chance to give it to her yet. I would just throw the outfit away but I want her to see the “motorcycle dude” I got her. I wonder if all the other countless dolls like this I have seen for sale have the same problem and I wonder if any of the sellers are aware of this issue. 1999 Ken Harley-Davidson doll with tatoos- Born to Ride!!!
I am a doll crafter. I love to re-make dolls into characters from television and movie cultural shows. Currently I am binging on "A Discovery of Witches". So, I decided to build the chateau, Sept-Tours. Afterward, I decided to make the characters. One of my favorite characters is a wild man named Gallowglass. I looked for a Ken to make Gallowglass in the year 1590 or 2022. Guess what, this Ken reminds me of Gallowglass regardless of how I dress him- 1590 or 2022!!! He has that wild, untamed, rebel look that I needed to create my Gallowglass. He is definitely a keeper for an adult collector. I am a doll crafter.
