A must for any Teacher.
It is funny how a movie that is part comedy, part drama, tries to blend the aspects of both. This movie shows some of the futility of teaching due to the politics involved running a large public school. Sometimes the comedy clashes with the drama, like the movie is trying to decide what it really is. The movie is well casted and the acting is really pretty good. The characters are fairly real even though often shown in extremes. I know people over the years that are actually very much like many of the characters. I saw it the first time when I had just started a teaching job. 25 years later, it still had some revelance and reminded me that nothing has really changed over the years. That is actually kind of sad, but the movie points out that it is all about the students. That hasn't ... It is funny how a movie that is part comedy, part drama, tries to blend the aspects of both. Good movie with good soundtrack
To be honest, I bought it for music. One of those few films with Ian Hunter in soundtrack, and it's a great song I'm The Teacher, written exactly for the film. I guess it should've been given more proper place in film, but anyway. Mick Ronson played on the track and produced it, so it's the only feature film that has his name in credits. Also in OST - Foolin' around by Freddie Mercury. Nice company! Film itself is undoubtedly worth watching!To be honest, I bought it for music. This is a great movie from my youth. It is set at the old Central High School building in Columbus, Oh which is now the site of the new COSI. This movie is a must see for all teachers young and old. It also has an awsome sound track.

As a teacher myself, this is a great movie that I roared through and cried as well. So much of what is in this movie is true, especially the basic storyline. It shows many things that teenagers go through in high school, and the problems of some of the teachers trying to teach them and show them a better way to deal with problems. Excellent movie.

I missed this movie when it first came out. Loved the songs on the soundtrack so it seemed like a good idea to watch the show. Made me wonder how the teachers I had in high school put up with us!!! Great movie!!Blast from the past!!!
