About this product

Product Information

EA's best-selling racing series continues with authentic cars, drivers, venues, and sponsors from the speed-driven sport's 2008 season. Featured locales range from speedways and super speedways to short tracks and road courses. A new career mode involves building your driver's reputation while competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Building reputation is accomplished by leading laps, passing cars, avoiding wrecks, qualifying, and more. Your reputation influences the behavior of the computer AI, the quality of potential sponsorship offers, and even the type of opponents you'll face online.

The Sprint Driver Challenge is a separate play mode featuring multiple race-specific scenarios to complete before engaging in head-to-head events against the sport's most recognizable stars. Cover star Jeff Gordon serves as your personal guide and mentor to the world of NASCAR, offering advice and tips to help improve your level of play. A more forgiving handling model is included to help those new to NASCAR stay on the track without spinning out. Veteran drivers can still choose a simulation-style control scheme for an added challenge, and an assortment of car customization options are available to improve each vehicle's performance on the demanding tracks. Online support is included for up to 14 players.

Great Purchase Great Game Great Seller

First, the Seller shipped immediately and in good protective packaging. As for the game, it's what I expected and wanted. I quickly got accustomed to the annoying black flags during a Season - I now drive a bit more cautiously at times. Some tracks allow you to bang into other cars more than other tracks. The possibility off black flags no longer bother me. The graphics are great for a product from 2008. I owned earlier versions for PC. This 2009 obviously has better graphics and a great paint booth. I am using the PS3 joy stick. I wish I had a wheel especially for the turns at Daytona and Talladega keeping in the draft. I wish the accident damage was more realistic and it would be nice if the AI drivers actually crashed out of a race - they always come back. I have driven two full Seasons ...

    Nascar 08

Game is useless without a wheel. No matter how much tuning you do there is no way to control your car without wrecking especially in traffic. Qualifying is OK but other than that don't waste your money. EA dropped the ball on this one.

  • better then 08

There's no question that with all of the new features, NASCAR 09 is an improvement over previous installments in the series. The gameplay hasn't received much attention, but better presentation, the ability to completely customize your ride, and other minor enhancements make this a game that should please most fans of the sport. After you set up your new driver information, it's off to the garage to explore the robust new customization options. You start by selecting and designing your own number, and then lay down a base color for the body of your car. Racing stripes, waves, flames, and sponsorship decals are just some of the graphics that you can use to pimp your ride, though many of the sponsors won't be available until you earn them.Upon completing the design of your car, you'll be ...

  • The Madden-ization of Racing

After not playing the series for a couple years, I've got mixed reaction to this game. The sport has definitely been Maddenized, and not in a good way. The complicated things they should have left simple. And quirks and bugs that showed up 3 years ago, make a valiant return, almost as if they'd never left. The pit crews haven't changed from the "everyone's the same" robots of yesteryear. You'd think with the power behind the PS3, they could come up with some original ideas for the pit crew. The Jeff Gordon clips are gimmicky and the audio/video aren't synchronized very well. The controls, both the Pro and Normal, don't do a very good job of immersing me into the game, as I spend more time wondering if the car is supposed to be handling like this or if it is just the hit-or-miss ...

  • Nascar series under-rated

Every year EA Sports releases a new NASCAR game, I always see mediocre and even poor reviews about it, all of which claim that the game is boring and/or featureless. The '09 game has received the worst of these complaints, and I really feel that these complaints don't merit a true example of the game itself. The first thing reviewers forget about this series is it's stock car racing, and if you don't enjoy stock car racing as a fan then you're not going to enjoy a stock car racing game, so quit whining. This year's NASCAR in my opinion is the greatest any NASCAR game has been, even for EA. People have in the past complained about the shift from a simulation style game to an arcade game, and I just don't see that. This year's game has a choice of either, both equally as useful depending on ...
