  • I recommend this book to any reader. A good read.

so, i really enjoyed this book, after owning the movie and other books by Hunter S. Thompson, i never found a copy that was reasonably priced in a good condition. I really liked the book because while reading it i was on deployment, and every chapter i knew exactly what part of the movie i was in. And being on a boat for 8-12 months can get a little boring, and repetitive day after day. There was also moments in the book that was not in the movie. The one and only problem i had with the book was that it wasn't long enough. I finished the book in a matter of 4 days. I've purchased more books since buying this one. I'm personally trying to get a collection of all Hunter S. Thompson's books. I still have quite a bit to go but have a good amount. I definitely recommend this book to any reader, ...

  • The book, to make you doubt everything.

This book, which kicked off a generation of amazing Gonzo Journalism, and eventually a brilliant movie adaptation , will be a classic. The maddening first person story takes you through a dark and terrible journey into the heart of the American dream. From exposes on skeet shooting and nixon, to a search for a dream and an ape, this book will blow your mind. Not only does Raoul Duke make you laugh and cry, but his buddy Dr. Gonzo will terrify you. This trip taken by a doctor of journalism and his attorney will not soon leave your mind.

  • "We can't stop here. This is Bat country" Very good trippy read.

I've read this book a bunch of times. It is a good read; even better now that it is a movie. I love Hunter and think he knows his way around a typewriter. I would recommend this book to anyone. Easily one of the craziest books I've ever read. And if you haven't seen it (believe me I've met someone who hasn't) check out the movie it is super trippy and has a great cast.

  • Couldn't put it down

It arrived in the mail on Friday. I got home at 7 and started reading. Finished it at 11am Saturday morning (after a good night's sleep). There isn't a moment of boredom. In fact, there isn't a moment that won't blow your mind. The writing is intense and sometimes disorienting. Thompson is one of the best writers of this century. To pass on this book is to ignore a massive chunk of the American culture of his time. Buy the book. Take the ride.
