    All Day Music

    It's very seldom I purchase a CD and like every cut within, but such is the case regarding "The Very Best Of War", What a great band, full of competent musicians and socially conscious song writers, Possessing these attributes how could they go wrong!

    An excellent summary of War's best material

    For someone new to the band, this serves as a great introduction to the band's entire career. But why would someone like myself, who already has every WAR title from "Eric Burdon Declares War" to "Why Can't We Be Friends" want this compilation. A couple reasons: Most of War's output after WCWBF is substandard... (I have vinyls of several of them so I know first hand, certainly not good enough to want full CDs of them). Disc 2 admirably collects all the better tracks from this era with few omissions, as well as a the non-LP single "Summer". Disc 1 for the most part does not duplicate album tracks for the period up to and including WCWBF, but instead collects the shorter 45RPM single versions of these tracks, so if one has all these discs already, the tracks will not be duplicated.     IT IS TRULY "THE VERY BEST OF" WAR!

    WOW! Is that what they were saying? LOL! It never ceases to amaze me the quality of a CD over my much used LP when I was Much, Much younger! All Excellent songs...the "best of" CD's are not always in my estimation....MY best of's! But in this case, every WAR song I loved is on here! "SLIPPIN'INTO DARKNESS" being my Fav, but the somewhat lesser known "ME & BABY BROTHER" also as well as some I had totally forgotten! A 2 CD set, takes both CD's to get all of the famous songs which span many years! Where were you when "WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS" was popular? I'll never tell!!! LOL!
