  • This book is only for people who can get past the whole NOT FRANK thing.

Seems good so far. More than half way through and it's keeping my attention. If you're a Frank Herbert purist, you'll probably find plenty of reasons to hate on this book. Took me years to get around to reading this. What I did was I started with re-reading DUNE, then re-reading all the other books through CHAPTERHOUSE: DUNE. I have to say, if you're just coming off reading HERETICS and CHAPTERHOUSE, the transition into HUNTERS OF DUNE is easy. Yes, there is quiet a bit of arguably useless re-capping. Frank Herbert did his fair share of that too. The style isn't really THAT far off from Frank Herbert's style in the last two DUNE books either. Sure I'm going to attract some hate for that one. Look, this isn't Frank. We all ...

  • First half of the concluding Dune series book

Book 6, Chapterhouse ended in a small cliffhanger. Apparently, they found the outline for book 7 in a safety deposit box that no one knew Frank Herbert had. "Hunters of Dune," is the first half of book 7. "Sandworms of Dune is the second half." This gives a real close to the series & ties it more closely to the prequels as well. The writing style is, naturally, more like the prequels than for original 6 --but it's still a most satisfactory conclusion to great story. I've got nice hardcover volumes of all the prequels, both Dune 7, and a '64 Dune. Now I've just got to track down nice volumes of 2-6.

  • An Amazing Start To The End

Frank Herbert was saving the best for last. I've read all of Frank Herbert's Dune works and some of his son's. This has to be one of my favorite Dune novels, and is truely a great start to the end of the greatest epic of all time. The story never gets boring and is extremely fast paced. Again, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson keep to their own writing style, and is preferable to me for this type of story. I love the elder Herbert's writing style, almost poetic and thought provoking, but at times would drag on and could become tedious. This is not to say that this duo's style is perfect. There are times when it feels like you are a child being talked down to, and that got on my nerves really fast. But the story and the twists in this novel are the real jems in this book. You can clearly ...
