    Excellent story line. Well worth the trouble to find. Recommended to all.

    I bought this novel, The Onion Girl by Charles De Lint because my husband was listening to the book in the audio form. I became intrigued in the story after riding around with him one day. After getting the book, I read it almost non-stop. I did not have a childhood anywhere like the girls had in the book. I didn't enjoy reading about that, but understood how it shaped the personality of the individuals and gave depth to the story. The ending was good, but not the way I would have done it, but De Lint did a very good job in making this reader aware of child abuse as a world-wide problem in need of being addressed.

    Urban magic

    Charles de Lint writes wonderfully magical stories about fairies, Native American tricksters and the god of old. This book is part of his beloved Newford series, in which mermaids sing to passersby' from the harbor and the crows are ancient spirits,
