Returning fighters like the Wizard, Archer, and Valkyrie are joined by new faces like the Knight, Dwarf, and Jester. The Wizard prefers to hang back and sling spells from a distance. With nine characters to choose from, you are guaranteed to find a character that matches the way you play.Like other Midway Gauntlet video games, the premise of "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" is straightforward: In each level, you'll need to eliminate everything in your path and head for the goal. The game takes you through traps and enemy battalions produced by generators scattered throughout the environment in each level. Armed with special powers, explosive magic vials, multiple projectile attacks, and other tools, one must defeat swarms of enemies.You can play this title either alone or with friends. The co-op mode in the Xbox version of "Dark Legacy" supports up to four players on one Xbox. Players can combine their attacks to create powerful combinations that will eliminate everything in their way.With over 60 levels to complete, "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" offers many hours of play. These levels span a variety of environments. You'll travel to deserts, mountains, and arctic environments on your quest. In each environment, you'll face new foes, so the game always feels fresh. The title has a save feature, so you can come back to the game and continue playing from the same spot. The title also features a number of hidden levels for gamers to find. Excellent! Old school at it's best
I have had this game 3 times in my life! I always go back to it for one of my great memories of my childhood. It's an awesome first person rpg. It's easy AND challenging at the same time. You won't be bored. It combines first person campaigns followed by each levels final challeng with an major enemy to move ahead. For fans of original Xbox games I give it 5 Stars out of 5. Entertaining and mindless hack-n-slash
Provided many hours of entertainment thru traversing clever levels, building up characters (RPG elements), obtaining access to new realms/levels, and finding secret doors/keys. The graphics aren't stellar, and character classes are not differentiated well, but this title will be a keeper for its instant action, simplicity and ability to entertain my family. If you want graphics, or expect an RPG you may be disappointed. If you want to shoot and kill 100s of mobs than this may work for you.Provided many hours of entertainment thru traversing clever levels, building up characters (RPG elements), obtaining access to new realms/levels, and finding secret doors/keys. Fun with friends, but......boring and tedious alone!
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is still a fun game to play with friends. Multi person game play has always been a strength of the Gauntlet Series and is encredibly fun teaming up with friends to conquer the various levels and finding potions and treasures. The fun of playing with friends keeps you from noticing all the flaws. So, if you have friends that enjoy this type of game, I would highly recomend it to you. If you are getting this game for nostalgia or as a way to pass some gameplaying time of your own.........Don't waste your money! It feels like they just changed to color and layout of the levels, the quantity and speed of enemies, and moved around the treasures. * Still fun to play with friends * Poor Graphics * Boring Repetitive Attack Play * Not much creativity with the different levels. * Nostalgia couldn't save it!
