It is nice and small but I'm not sure about how and when it backs up my pc because there were no instructions on how to make it work. I would give it 5 stars if instructions and basic information on how it backs up the pc. For example ; If I purchase a new pc of a different brand will it be able to put the back up information into the new pc and will it back up information upon connection to the pc periodically. I guess the people that make these items assume everyone understands how to make it work. I plug it in every few days and a light goes on for a short time then goes off. I wish they would include instruction and information with the item. If it does work the way "I THINK" it works I would give it 5 stars but I don't know for sure if it is doing what I can only hope it is ... Toshiba External Drive 500 GB: Reliable!
I needed a new external hard drive to back up my desktop. Haven't had any trouble with other Toshiba external drives I have. Those are simply for entertainment now, since I don't want to fill up the desktop PC. Full backups take many hours, so not concerning. I expect it will perform well for some time. 500 GB is plenty for me. You may want a different size for your needs.
