Product Information

Vic (Don Johnson), survivor of atomic holocaust, wanders hungrily across the bleak desert landscape in search of cans of food buried deep in radioactive ash. His telepathic dog, Blood (Tim McIntire) depends on Vic for food, but Vic needs Blood to find him something much more scarce: female companionship. The bedraggled duo eventually discover an underground society of survivors, called "Down Under," where they have reproduced the look of pre-apocalypse Americana but with frighteningly totalitarian politics. A cult black comedy based on the novella by Harlan Ellison.

    Camp and Cult at its Classical Best

    From the writer of Star Trek's "The City on the Edge of Forever", and the director of, well, "A Boy and His Dog", is the story of a young man, Vic, struggling to survive in a post-World War 4 America, with his trusted companion, his dog, named Blood. And if that is enough to suspense disbelief... The dog communciates with the boy via telepathy. On the prowl for women, guns, and food, the pair venture until met by Quilla, a young woman from a society that has hidden from the war below ground. The movie is the 1970s at its best, or worst, depending on your views. It is the type of movie that either you will love, or hate, and probably determine which in the first ten minutes. It features a young Don Johnson, and one of the best closing lines of a film, on a par with "Casablanca". I ...

    One of the best!

    A Boy And His Dog is a classic! I love the story line and the fact that the dog and 'boy' are reunited in the end. And that the dog is actually smarter than his human companion make this a film that was way ahead of it's time. I owned the VHS but love the movie so much that when I found out it was available in DVD I had to own it! For folks who are looking at todays world and seeing very little hope of avoiding a sinerio like A Boy And His Dog this film will be of interest to you. To the Bush and 'Dicks' who will be living underground when the shit hits the fan; remember if you are hanging from a cliff and one of my dogs are hanging from a cliff you can kiss you white asses goodbye!

    Hot diggady dog!

    It's was everything I remembered. I saw this movie when it came out at the movies this was back in the 70s. Something trigered a memory of it so I thought I'd buy it. It was actually better than I remembered it. I didn't remember that it stared a young Don Johnson. I played it for my son and the people in my business. They got a kick out of it even though it was 30 years old. If it weren't for Ebay, I doubt that I could have found it. I can't say there was anything I didn't like about it.

    A Boy and His Dog meet WWIII survivors!

    Don Johnson (looks like he's about 19) and a scruffy telepathic mutt roam the wasteland after World War 3, looking for food and girls! Whats new huh? Don takes after a girl from down under, not Australia, but underground where he runs into a society of bizarre survivors who are very interested in his reproductive capability! Great scenes and hilarious acting. He survives and gets the girl, but not exactly as you'd expect! A sci-fi classic!
