Solid performing budget stereo cassette tape recorder player deck

This is an excellent machine. It plays and records tapes very well and consistently in both directions and in both decks "Excellent"!. However, the Dolby noise reduction doesn't always track perfectly. This can occasionally cause tapes to sound slightly muffled or compressed. This Dolby issue is common among many but not all cassette tape decks I've used and tested. Overall, this tape deck performs well and delivers acceptable to very good sound quality.

This Machine Eats up My Cassette Tapes so Don't Buy It!

Even after cleaning the heads with my tape cleaner, side B keeps eating up my tapes so I cannot use the machine for what I planned for it, to record music from my radio; and play it back because on Tape Deck B, side 2 of the tape, it eats up my tape so I end up having to throw the cassette tape out. Fortunately for me, I have another dual sided tape deck, a Sony TC-WR 690 Stereo Double Cassette Deck, which I would highly recommend buying if you can find it for sell, and it records on both tape decks (which this model doesn't)! It is a piece of junk (at least mine is) and now I will have to sell it for parts only to make up a little for the loss of what I bought it. Don't buy this model but spend a little more and get the upgraded Sony TC-WR 690 model instead (or the TC-WR 675 which will do ...

  • Sony Used TC-WE475 cassette deck

This deck is nicely designed. It works well. A good feature is the pitch control. I did had trouble with the “A” cassette but was able to fix it quickly. The capstans where frozen and needed to be turned manually to free them. They are functioning properly now. I am very happy with the deck.

  • Sony TC-WE475 cassette deck

I didn't read the fine details; I thought that this was a dual record deck, and it's a single record deck, but I use it almost daily. I do recommend it. The dubbing feature works well, and I have successfully made mix tapes from CDs. So, all-in-all, it works well,.

  • Not the most durable deck.

Deck "A" had issues with both playing a tape without stopping and also using fast forward/reverse controls. As well, when it did play, the sound was muted somewhat in the high frequencies. I subsequently replaced Deck A with another one from a different unit. Deck "B" works perfectly. It seems never to have been used (the record function). The original Deck "A" showed signs of excessive use.
