No big stick or silver rod but may work

The older design seem more like the Shakespeare BigStick or he Silver rod. Which I loved. I haven't used it enough to give a good review. Friends tell me this one will run all over the place with just about any tuner and about a meg in a half of range if tuning rings are adjusted correctly. Seems to tune. I am not sure its as efficient as the for mentioned antennas? I will update my review in a few months. I will mount it somewhere between 18-30 feet depending how much my mast flex's. Right now I'm putting up at 20 feet to keep it away from my roof.

    Cheaply made

The threads wouldnt even go together i have a friend who has same antenna from 10 yrs ago and he has excellent swr signal whole nine yards mine has 3.3 swr had to buy a tap and die kit to get fittings together i normally always leave great feedbacks when all is well but sorry guys this is probably one of the worst ebay experience ive had buying radio equipment and i order lots of it

  • very good ant for amateure radio

Well I have had two of these antennas before one of them is still up but is full of water if I would have been able to take it down a couple of years ago and re coat it would still be ok. have not put the new one up bad weather caught up with me. but I am sure it will work just fine I set the rings at the top of the settings and it tuned up on 6 ,10 , & 17mtrs. with less than 1.5 standing wave; I love them Hebie K9UZZ

  • Still a good ole antenna

A classic legand, they don't seem to make them quite as good as the original. A bit rickety, poor soldering in spots, definitely needs paint. Nothing that can't be improved if you spend time. Still a 5 star product.

  • New Solarcon A99

I’ve owned a A99 when it was a Antron 99 back in the day. Almost 15-yrs. I’ve recently got a brand new (Solarcon) A99 I’ve noticed it just doesn’t talk out as good. If, they have changed something to restrict it. They need to go back to factory in the day. Now take into fact I’m working with brand new coax lmr-400 still turning & tweaking it. But, I’m getting great receiving. Is it radio-no. I’ve narrowed it to antenna or coaxial. Good luck & I’m looking for more feed back from others to on Utube. I’ve only seen one other complaint about the new one. Says (Solarcon) right on the side of the Antenna. Aka: The new Solarcon A99.
