Great little Sensor
If you have a compatible Prestige Thermostat, AND the installer code, you can attached this wireless sensor in a place in your home where the HVAC is less than optimal. It is completely wireless, runs from two small batteries, supplied with a new model. You then link it to the thermostat via Honeywells proprietary redlink protocol. You do this through the thermostat and then press the connect button on the underside of the sensor. It does NOT use your home wifi or Internet to communicate with the thermostat. Once it is paired, the temperature will be the averaged between the thermostat and the sensor. Thats the average, not the median. So if the thermostat is set to 74f and the temperature at the sensor is 71f, the temperature will be approx 72.5f in both rooms. You can add up to ... Simple to Install, Good Design
I purchased one to get an ideal how to use it to make the house temperature more stable throughout the rooms. It made a small difference in how it averages the temps over the house and adjusts temp for an average. So I bought 2 more and it has made a measurable difference in the overall house temp (2 and 3 degrees difference). Because the sensor reports the temp back to the the HVAC does not have to work as hard to keep the temps the same through the house. Great product inexpensive
Had an issue with thermostat being in room with many windows causing heat to kick on in winter and A/C to kick on in summer leaving other rooms on same zone either too cold or too hot. This solved the problem and saved money by preventing heat or A/C from running constantly.
