Synopsis
"Nearly every crucial fact regarding cocktail construction...is elevated by Wondrich's erudite and estimably sharp wit."- Wine & Spirits Anyone can lift a glass-but drinking with class, taste, and wisdom is a completely different matter. David Wondrich, Esquire magazine's renowned "drink pundit," is here to remedy that sad situation and restore a tradition of intelligent, sophisticated drinking. Wondrich simply provides the liveliest history of drinks imaginable, serving up wit and wisdom that will help you sort out the classic from the crass and master the fundamentals of mixology. The highlight: the delicious drinks themselves. The recipes, with loads of information and variants, appear on pages brightened with vintage photos that perfectly capture the spirit of each cocktail. There are daiquiris, amusingly named gin drinks like "William Seabrook's Asylum," a Whiskey Sour, Margarita, Vodka Martini, and a barfull more!, Esquire distills the classic from the crass, to offer the fundamentals of mixology and its equipment, at the same time providing a lively history of drinks. The highlight of this book is the selection of recipes, each one illustrated to capture perfectly the spirit of each cocktail., Who better than Esquire's editors to bring back drinking with sophistication and flair? They'll sort out the classic from the crass, explain the fundamentals of mixology and its equipment, and take you through the liveliest history of drinks imaginable. The highlight: delicious recipes, with loads of information and variants, shown on pages brightened with vintage photos.

This delivery was earliest date! Condition, value, quality - all as described. (My mistake was not requiring the publishing date to be 1958. This was 1977.) This IS a Viking Portable Library copy of Dante's Divine Comedy in English, translated by Laurence Binyon, but it is with a cover DIFFERENT from what was shown. The tracking number was listed as from "UPS", but should have been listed as from "USPS." Contact with this seller alleviated tracking issues. I recommend this seller! Thank you!
