Trapped in an unhappy marriage to an aristocratic mine owner whose war wounds have left him paralyzed and impotent, Constance enters into a liaison with the gamekeeper Mellors. Lady Chatterley's Lover , considered one of the most remarkable literary works of the twentieth century, was banned in England and the United States following its initial publication in 1928.
