Preface Coalition Theory and Nested Coalitions The Political Community Coalition: Supporters of the Principal Membership Unit The Regime Coalition: Supporters of a Political Order The Program Coalition: Supporters of a Common Agenda The Cabinet or Executive Coalition: Supporters of the Leadership Team Index
Synopsis
Cook's principles of coalition politics are really rules of thumb followed by boundedly rational actors, and can predict much coalition politics behavior. Agents prefer to create marginally winning coalitions with like-minded groups in the expectation of receiving rewards commensurate with investments. Four distinct types of coalitions--country, regime, agenda, and cabinet--are explored, along with a thorough examination of current coalition literature. Normally nested, the broader coalitions give rise to narrower ones, revealing diminishing bases of support and duration. Also, barring political catastrophe, change in coalitions at the program or cabinet level usually do not harm, and may actually strengthen, the regime or country coalitions from which they arise. Students and scholars in comparative politics and political theory will benefit from Cook's ability to rise above the usual divisions and limitations of sub-fields. A distinctive and refreshing mix of theory and empirical material, ^INested Political Coalitions^R provides a sensible digest of diverse theoretical literatures, a good overview of coalition dynamics from one level to the next, and illustrates all this with breathtaking empirical coverage., Cook's principles of coalition politics are really rules of thumb followed by boundedly rational actors, and can predict much coalition politics behavior. - c***a (121)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThe seller was very responsive and answered me on a timely matter. The product itself came in its packaging and was new, not used at all. The packaging was not beat up or anything, safely delivered to my mailbox. No mix ups and zero stress with delivery. The price for the product is completely understandable for the product. I really appreciate the seller and I am very happy to have purchased through this seller. Completely trustable!
- m***4 (1603)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseLeaving positive feedback because 1) item was packed well & arrived as described 2) seller did give partial refund when subsequent price dropped below org purchase price. 3) communication was quick However, there was a downside to this transaction -item listed as in-stock but ended up waiting nearly a month for them to get it from their distributer then ship it to me (bought June 29th, arrived around July 21). Auction said 12-15 days. Better clarity would have prevented lot of frustration
