      Good after market replacement

      I have had some problems with replacement (non-original) bobbin cases for the Singer Featherweight machines. This one, however, was the best non-original bobbin case that I have found. It performed well and without adjustment.

      So-so Repro

      This is a reproduction bobbin case for a Singer 221 or 301 manufactured by TOWA. I purchased it for a 301 that did not have a bobbin case. I compared it to an original Singer bobbin case from a 221 (stamped Simanco--Singer Manufacturing Co.). The TOWA bobbin case worked fine in the machine (there were no problems with the stitch), but was noticeably noisier than the Singer bobbin case and was a very tight fit. When I tried to remove the bobbin case to change the bobbin, I had to wiggle it for about 15 seconds to get it out. I discovered it helps to pull on the case itself when removing it, not just the latch, so now I no longer feel I am going to break the latch off when I change the bobbin, but it is still not easy to remove.       Didn't work

      The workmanship of the bobbin case seemed good, but it did not work in my Featherweight. The hook wouldn't pick up the top thread with this bobbin case in the machine. Note that I tested with another Featherweight bobbin case and that does work, so the problem is not with my machine.
